One more important point: Raids

I'd also like to add something that was particularly frustrating for me as a long-time Destiny player. I loved the idea of raids. In Destiny 1, I was able to enjoy the game primarily as a Titan and focus on what I enjoyed most: combat, weapons, abilities and teamwork. With Destiny 2, however, I increasingly felt that I was excluded from some of the most prestigious and rewarding content because of the movement and platforming mechanics involved. I wanted to play raids. I wanted to experience the encounters, mechanics, teamwork and challenge with other players. But the problem was that I wasn't comfortable with the jumping and movement sections required by some of these activities. As a result, I often felt that there simply wasn't a raid designed for players like me. That was particularly frustrating because I wasn't avoiding the difficulty. Quite the opposite. I was perfectly willing to face difficult enemies, learn mechanics, communicate with a team and spend time mastering an encounter. What I struggled with was a different type of difficulty: precise jumping, platforming and advanced movement. And those are two very different skills. A player can be an excellent FPS player, understand raid mechanics, communicate effectively and contribute to a team, while still being bad at platforming. I think this distinction is important. For the future of Destiny, I would love to see raids and endgame activities where the difficulty can come primarily from combat, mechanics, teamwork, strategy and coordination, rather than requiring advanced movement skills to simply progress through the activity. I'm not asking for easier raids. I'm asking for different kinds of challenges. I'd love to see Bungie create endgame content where a player like me can say: «"This is extremely difficult, but I can improve by learning the encounter, mastering my weapons and working better with my team."» rather than: «"I can't do this because I can't perform the required jumps."» That difference matters. I think Destiny has room for both types of players. Players who love movement should absolutely have challenging content designed around it. But players who love the FPS and combat side of Destiny should also have a place in the endgame. For me personally, this is one of the biggest things I hope Bungie considers when designing the future of Destiny. Don't just make content for players who master every aspect of the movement system. Make sure there is also a place for players who master the gunplay, combat, strategy and teamwork. That's the kind of Destiny I would love to keep playing. #FeedbackD2 #Destiny2 #Raids

  • Can you not improve at jumping? Like you say you can improve by repeating encounters, but why doesn't that apply to the traversal sections?

Disagree. I love "jumping puzzles" in raids (or dungeons), even though I'm surely far from being great at it. It's still fun though and also a unique thing which you barely see in other FPS. Also there is really (almost?) no such thing in raids as "I can't do thing X because I can't do the required jumps". Some things require a bit practice, for sure, but most are really not THAT difficult.

  • I suck at jumping but I just persevere and get through the jumps and am usually last to complete them but I don’t give up
