Why aren't YOU using Shotguns in PVE?
Do share, why don't you use them? And I'd rather have more specific reason than "I don't like them" (which is a valid reason ofcourse), because I'm curious why don't you like them.

Too much risk for little reward. Would have normally used a fusion rifle.

It's less of a risk to use a sniper rifle or even a fusion rifle. Especially in boss missions. I don't think I want to run up on a boss in a nightfall.

Prefer getting headshots than running into a swarm and getting smacked up

Because if like me you value your life, being within stabbing range of a vicious 4 armed monster isn't productive to the continuation of your bloodline. I have just got the thorn bounty and it's ruining me having to run around with fusion rifles and shotguns in pvp... :/

Im startimg to use it more with my hunter. It works well with the dont touch me gauntlets

I use em now and Then for CQC. But mostly i don't cuz sniper. And you don't have alot of surviveability. Shotgun is good it reks even the stronger enemies. But the risk you take for going that close is huge.

I have no luck with them. I either graze the opponent or I hit them dead on and still need an extra shot. Meanwhile I get 1 shot from all sorts of distances.

Because I don't understand how we can be so far in the future yet we seem to have lost clip/magazine technology for shotguns.

I used to use shotguns all the time, but I found that snipers are much more useful in PVE due to the range.

I prefer medium to long range engagements where I can be a little bit back from the main combat and watch the flow of the game for tactical purposes. So, shotguns just don't fit my playstyle. I usually run with a sniper but if I'm on a small map and need some close ranged firepower I go for a fusion so I don't have to get right in the middle of the swirling shotgun melee.

Same reason I don't use them in PvP, because shotguns are for scrubs.

3 RepliesI ask that all the time. I don't know why everyone thinks they suck on pve. I've been -blam!- pve with shotguns since I got my first invective. Doing it ever since haha. Really enjoy my fwc shotgun with full auto. It's a beast

They're absolute crap. You never want to get that close to an opponent no matter the situation, much easier to kill them at mid-long range.

A hunter with a shotgun is a bad idea.

I've been tempted by Murmur & Icebreaker. I used them all the time as my special, before.

I use it sometimes in the first part of crota raid. With the +2 agilty perk and 6 shots its nice against those small guys. But in nightfall i think its just to risky especially when lightswitch is on.

I feel like they do half the damage that a shotgun should do when you blast someone in the face with it.

Helm of saint 14, the fourth horseman, weapons of light. Set up bubble right by the boss and initiate his ground pound melee, then run out of the bubble unload an entire clip into him. Rinse and repeat. It's a lot of fun and it's different. You can hit up to 4000+ depending on the spread. Can't wait for that damage increAse.

Main reason? The range. That and fusion rifles kinda did the same thing. I want something that will be able to quickly bring down those majors and fusions did a superb job
