Free DLC won't save this game. Activision will simply scrap the franchise before they give out free DLC.
If you want this game to be what we were promised then stay on the forums and tell them what we want, they decided to do an entire rewrite of the story in the last year, so the launch title and first DLCs are parts of the original story Frankensteined together.
The second "expansion" or 3rd and 4th DLCs is where we're going to really see whether this franchise is going to be what we were promised or not. By the third DLC they'll have had about two years to do the rewrite, so at the very least they'll have had time to get something cohesive together. I expect to see much more in depth story telling starting from the third DLC.
Not a second before, and yes unfortunately is going to cost some cash, but boycotts and calling for free shit doesn't work on a multi-billion dollar company. Unless you get everybody to stop playing WoW, CoD, Starcraft, I could go on.

Sorry but they choose to do a full rewrite, probably down to the fact they wanted to make the real game into three parts. One the stuff we get to play when we buy the game, then two DLCs that were removed so they make a bigger profit. I hope to god someone gives Bungies ex lead writer a job and he can make a better version.

It's a possibility, but cutting the game into multiple parts doesn't require a rewrite of the story, it only requires you to break up the story you already have and package pieces of it separately.

Perhaps but if the DLC levels are mid point in the original story they would have little choice.
