Sadly, that isn't a viable answer for most folks.
I'll use me as an example.
I have a 10-hour-a-day job. A wife, baby, house and yard. My play time is limited and can be cut-short at a moments notice.
No matter how good I am, nobody would want that in their clan.
I'm in DadsofDestiny. Great clan . We have lots of casual members with families. Check out our forums. Conversations are helpful and respectful. Hardly any trolls around (they tend to hang around the General forum, where people keep feeding them).
I'm just saying a clan is the best way to go. Randoms are busy because it's a grind game. If you want friendly faces you may have to clan up. It's how gaming is evolving. I started a clan on ps4 before i left destiny and I stick around to manage it, you can join them if you want they are friendly and helpful guys. I am not lol
