Original concept art was by Thom Tenery, used with permission. I redrew one of Thom's sketches from the book Alien Race: Visual Development of an Intergalactic Adventure and used it as a reference for my sculpture. The reason I redrew it was to better understand the mouth of the creature. I took the reference image into ZBrush and began sculpting the 3D model from a Dynamesh Sphere. Edited by Teyon: 9/5/2014 2:30:08 AMTroll! It's a little lumpy. It's just a quick sculpt though, so I'm probably not going to clean it up.

2 RepliesI love modeling creatures and monsters and stuff, I don't really get to do that in my day job - there it's mostly just humans.

3 RepliesSend it to Garry's Mod Steam Workshop if possible. Valid suggestion.

The hair is a bit embarrassing. lol At the time, I really didn't understand how to make hair.

Anyone remember this little guy from Star Wars? Fun fact: This one started life as a Rhino 3D model. If you guys don't know, Rhino 3D is used for making machined parts usually. Cars, planes, household appliances. I was one of the few people, when it first came out, to use it for creature modeling.

Finding fun designs for creatures is always an interesting process.

Mostly, the modeling I do in my day job only leaves me time to do busts at night.
