Its a gimmick its just getting the 'good' ending or not. Some fans like it but most rpgs don't waste their time with it. You can choose which predetermined path your character walls as far as the plot is concerned that is it. Nothing wrong with it but it isn't what most rpgs are built on and most rpg worm better without it

Rpgs with out it. Mean nothing to me. They are boring and lame. I'd rather have a choice. You don't like it. Don't play fall out or witcher or dragon age.

Lol you can choose between two or three endings... how grand. To each their own I play most of them but its really a weak 'choice' in the end.

The first Witcher game had 3 endings. The Witcher 2 had 16 endings. The Witcher 3 is confirmed by CDProjectRED to have 36 endings.

Really and they are all distinct and unique endings totally distinct from each other? I somehow doubt that. .. and if they are that is really a total waste of time

They are each unique. Or they were in The Witcher and The Witcher 2, I imagine they will be in 3 as well. It is not a waste of time to make your choices truly matter. That is what makes CDProjektRED one of the greatest game developers of all time. No one else really comes close.

Its a difference of opinion...I think its pointless in general but haven't played the witcher so I can't make a declarative statement with any legitimacy
