Great Gatsby or The Crucible?

Personally I liked The Crucible more then Great Gatsby, although both serve the purpose of explaining points of time in American history.

I would not read the first... well, the first thing in the poll. I hesitate to call it a novel because I equate it more to a pile of trash not yet set ablaze to be put in its rightful place in a landfill.
