I hear people say they’re overpowered and they take no skill to use. But then there’s me. I’ve been trying for a long time to try to and get good with them. To be fair I left Destiny for a while and came back many times. But I’d hop on PvP to see what I can do with them. They are frustrating as hell to use. So I have much respect for those players that can make them work. If they were such low skill weapons, shouldn’t I be doing well with them? Plus they’d be everywhere in PvP and I honestly see jade rabbit and mida than any hand cannon, even in competitive modes. No this isn’t a nerf mida or jade rabbit post. I see a lot of auto rifles, SMGs and scouts with the occasional hand cannon user out of the rest of the team. And if it is someone with a hand cannon it’s the last word.

Hate to bring it to you, but there aren’t any high skill weapons in this game. All gun fights come down to RNG. RNG being bloom, flinch, AE and even strafing while shooting. You’re not fighting your opponent you’re fighting against the mechanics. Good luck. Note: Final Warning is your best friend.
-
For me pulses and autos are easier to use, and more forgiving. It took a long time to get use to HC.
-
Most of the complaining pretty much boils down to popular=op or it killed me therefore it’s broken. If you’re wanting a really good and consistent HC I’d recommend Hawkmoon. It can roll with moving target too if you want extra aim assist while strafing, but the random perk isn’t necessary either since it’s solid regardless.
-
Most people who think hcs are op are just 0.5s who think anyone better than them is cheating

7 RepliesAll you need to know is that Handcannons are closely correlated with being a high skill player. Examples below: Handcannons used in Quickplay: 7.1% Scouts used in Quickplay: 6.3% Handcannons used in Trials: 35.4% Scouts used in Trials: 5.4% Handcannons used in Trials by High Skill Players: 58.3% Scouts used in Trials by High Skill players: 6.3% Whether or not you personally use them or enjoy them is irrelevant, because the data doesn't lie. Using a handcannon (especially the lightweight 140s) is highly correlated with having a high win rate.

find a HC that you can land shots with, I like my Rose with moving target and explosive payload, though Palindrome feels good to me as well (also with explosive payload)
-
9 RepliesPick a specific Hand Cannon and stick with it. Whether it's Exotic or Legendary doesn't matter as long as it's something your comfortable with. Which subclasses and weapons do you prefer to use in the Crucible?
-
Hc's seem harder than they used to be to use. Imo. Back when eyasluna and palindrome first came out they just seemed so smooth.

1 ReplyHand Cannons reward good map awareness and a disciplined peek-shooting playstyle. Beyond that, it's getting accustomed to how they block your screen when firing and being able to correct your aim when the target is obscurred. 180s are a good "introduction" Hand Cannon because their visual kick is very subdued, but they're the weakest of all the other options. You can start there and work your way up to the 140s/120s.
-
I was in the same boat. I didn’t like hand cannons and could not land enough shots on opponents before I died. I just swapped almost solely to any and every hand cannon I got until I found what I can actually use. Some models just do not work for me no matter what role. I like high stability first then range. The higher your stability, the less recoil which helps to land consecutive shots. Some of the 180s can help as they usually have a tight recoil. I used Malfeasance a lot because if you can land five shots on anyone, they die. I am still not good with them but I decided to just do as good as I can and go from there. It allowed me to enjoy either winning or losing. Good Luck and don’t give up!

Lol yeah I can't hit the backside of a barn with them and it's a problem for people that can't use them because they dominate in PVP. Then of course there are the cheaters who can make them work amazingly well. 🤔
-
For HC finding the right gun with the right rolls is a big part of what makes them strong. For me I could never get along with Rose, even a god roll, but Solemn Remembrance or Thorn worked like a charm, and I didn’t feel there was that much of a learning curve.

3 RepliesThis indeed.... somehow handcannons and snipers are not lethal in my guardians hand at pvp. D1 and d2 both. My skill issue
-
My issue against them is the insane range. But I must admit I suck at using them in PvP. Now put a 257rpm in my hands and I can get things done.
-
2 RepliesFor me, their ease of use heavily relies on the roll. I love moving target on any hand cannon and it seems to be the secret sauce.
-
People say they require no skill because of how forgiving their accuracy and magnetism cones are. But every single one that complains about hand cannons either doesn't consider or care that the gun itself literally works against you every shot by flying up, hiding the sights after every shot, and blocking the target too. A problem no other weapon has. And the rest keep complaining about how dangerous hand cannons are in the hands of cheaters, but fact of the matter is that EVERY weapon would be just as dangerous for the same reasons. Hell, one friend of mine every time loves bringing up cheaters and how they "kill you so fast with impossible accuracy", but if a company starts balancing weapons around cheaters, they've already failed in every aspect of pvp because the cheaters won't notice a difference no matter how low the stats go. And everyone else will have harder times using those weapons, especially against cheaters, so either more weapons would get nerfed into oblivion, or every weapon would be buffed to godhood because it won't make a difference at that point.
-
Every weapon that kills me in Crucible (especially if it flinches me from outside my optimal range and/or allows its user to peek shoot me and avoid most of my assumed headshots) is overpowered. Which is why I try to stay out of Crucible, lol.
-
Same, I enjoy them but they’re still probably the primary I’m worst with. Idk what you play on but it’s worth noting that due to a couple factors hand cannons are significantly stronger and easier to use on mnk compared to controller and that’s where most of the complaints likely come from.
-
4 RepliesBecause many hand cannon users use third party devices and network manipulation.
-
It's not that Lightweight, Adaptive and Aggressive handcannons make you better. It's that when a skilled player learns to use them effectively they often dominate too well. From the experiences I've had connection issues also seem to favor handcannons. I can't explain the How but as an example I was using a Rapid-fire pulse and only got two bursts off before a player using Rose downed me with three perfect shots.
-
I don’t get Jade Rabbit users
-
1 ReplyI get them all the time, but not the rolls I want!
-
6 RepliesUnder my experience hand cannons on controller have pretty much aimbot, compared to Mouse. The difference is that I can move faster on the mouse, that doesn't mean the target acquisition or magnetism is as sticky as controller. If I want to bump my accuracy I just plug in a controller if I want to do crazy moves I stay on Mouse. Which device you use to try hand cannons and which fire rate are your usual hand cannons?
