First, specifications: I play Destiny 2 on a PlayStation 5 connected with a LAN cable to an ASUS ROG GT-BE98 router, which is connected to a Zyxel modem belonging to A1 internet service provider (ISP) in Slovenia.
The problem: firstly, it takes unusually long to connect to destiny servers when first logging into the game. It eventually succeeds in doing that and the character screen appears. I can login with my character and get to orbit normally, but when I try going to the tower for instance – or any other activity where other guardians are present (eg. Vanguard Ops, Tharsis Spaceport etc.) – as soon as the loading screen ends it changes to a black screen. For the next 5-10 seconds I can actually hear the sounds of the tower, but the screen is still black and the game is starting to send me warnings about network connectivity, before eventually sending me to orbit with the CABBAGE error code. All of this happens only on my home network, so the one provided by my ISP (A1) – when I tried to run the game and go to the tower with my playstation connected to my phone mobile data hotspot, it worked as usual, though quite slower and laggy since it was NAT type 3 (which I cannot really change, so this is not a possible solution/workaround).
I have been playing Destiny 2 for about 6 years, had the same network setup for about a year and only yesterday has the issue appeared. Now, before you dismiss me, I know that cabbage is usually the consequence of a router problem, but I am pretty confident to say it is not so in my case. I did all of the network troubleshooting I found on bungie.net: I made sure there is no double NAT and put my modem into bridge mode, made sure that the NAT is type 2 (as has always been), that IPv6 is disabled, adjusted the MTU from 1492 to 1454 in case it was getting fragmented, turned on Open NAT on the router for Destiny 2 specifically, pinged 8.8.8.8 from a laptop connected to the same network while running Destiny to check for potential packet loss – there was none, I even turned off the router firewall completely and it still didn't work, which I think rules out router-side firewall/port configuration.
The next thing I tried was getting in touch with my ISP, sadly without any satisfying answers as nothing was abnormal or wrong on their part or on my fiberoptic line.
This is the point I decided to check the forums. I found a recent post with a similar issue by Arcane#6769, but decided to make a post myself with all of my specs as to alleviate the troubleshooting done by bungie (if it will (hopefully) be done). Maybe Destiny servers are for some reason blocking or dropping traffic from my specific IP range?

1 ReplyHello there, Thank you very much for reaching out to us. I'm sorry to hear that you are seeing this error code when playing the game. As all of the available troubleshooting has been attempted, we've taken note of this thread and will continue monitoring anything that may have gone awry on our end. In the meantime, while you've mentioned doing the troubleshooting, in the event this was only the Network Troubleshooting Guides, we'd also encourage you to review the Help Article for this particular error code if you haven't already, for a few other things to try.
