Dear Bungie Team,
I want to give direct feedback about the current state of hand cannons in Crucible.
Hand cannons have become one of the biggest problems in PvP because they seem to control the entire balance direction of the sandbox. Every time another weapon type starts to feel strong, useful, or competitive, it eventually gets adjusted, limited, or nerfed. Meanwhile, hand cannons continue to sit at the center of Crucible as if the whole mode is being balanced around them.
That has made PvP feel stale, frustrating, and almost unplayable.
Crucible should support variety. Players should be able to use auto rifles, pulse rifles, scouts, sidearms, SMGs, bows, and other weapon types without feeling like they are constantly being pushed back into the same hand cannon meta. When one weapon family keeps defining what is acceptable in PvP, the sandbox stops feeling competitive and starts feeling forced.
Even if the game is winding down or development support is being reduced, I strongly believe hand cannons need one final across-the-board nerf before Bungie moves on. They have had too much control over Crucible balance for too long. Before the game is left in its final state, PvP deserves a healthier sandbox where one weapon type does not continue to dominate the experience.
Hand cannons should still exist and still be usable, but they should not be the weapon class that everything else is balanced around. Range, aim assist, flinch resistance, forgiveness, and damage consistency all need to be reviewed. The goal should not be to destroy the weapon type, but to stop it from choking out the rest of Crucible.
Please take a serious look at giving hand cannons a full PvP balance pass before leaving the sandbox behind. Crucible needs weapon diversity, not another year of everything else being nerfed while hand cannons stay protected.

They need a big fat nerf but no one will ever acknowledge it

1 ReplyThey’ve been busted for nearly the entirety of the franchise, but they will always get a pass from the community for some reason.

This ship has already sunk and y'all are acting as if they still take feedback and are actually going to look into it. Besides, I strongly believe the feedback section turned into an echo chamber a long time ago, if it was ever looked at in the first place. I've seen BNGHelp reply to bug reports, but I'm not sure if there's anybody left they can even forward them to.

Nor gonna happen now layoffs happened the game in its current state is what we get

I’m melting with autumn wind with 175 weapons damage at a distance from hc. Definitely dying to jade rabbit though

2 RepliesWith all due respect, I don't think handcannons are the issue, in a pulse meta you would have struggled as well. Continously bottom fragging in silver tier comp isnt a handcannon issue. You can't tell me you lost everything due to handcannons

Edited by iCypher: 6/26/2026 8:33:20 PMHand cannons arent the problem. It’s your play style. Looking at you trials kd of .64 and crucible kd of .75 I am guessing you aren’t playing either you team doing team shots or you are challenging things you shouldn’t. Hand cannons are super easy to counter. You need to pick a better weapon archetype like a 450 pulse.

Absolute waffle, we've been in bullet hose metas for years 😂

What even bother to fix anything, especially if it's was broken since day one?

First time playing?

Should be a light nerf to be honest, I have been using controller just to try something new before the game is dead with cloudstrike and I noticed its pretty op to pair with handcannons. Extra aim assist using controller, precision instrument or even magnificent howl x2 to two tap with a 140 like rose I just wish they kept hcs to be 150s instead of 140s. But the biggest issue with it is flinching against them. In the end use pulses they are pretty fun to use and better in SOME situations.

https://destinytracker.com/destiny-2/profile/bungie/4611686018557151053/guardians Are Crutch Cannons the problem for them? Maybe not. You can't deny numbers, would they have struggled in any meta, yay or nay Just Nay or Yay lads

Unless next Tuesday already has a Hand Cannon adjustment its unlikely this will change
