Bringing back the "Space Magic & Grit" – Feedback from a D1 Veteran
Dear Bungie Team,
I am writing this as a player -blam!- went back to Destiny 1, and the experience highlighted some core elements I believe Destiny 2 should revisit in the future:
1. Armor Aesthetics & Identity:
In Destiny 1, the armor felt like "Space Gear." It had a rugged, functional, and mysterious look that truly made me feel like an explorer in a dangerous universe. In Destiny 2, while the designs are creative, they often lack that "grounded" sci-fi feel. I suggest bringing back more of the D1-style armor silhouettes—especially for Hunters and Warlocks—where the gear feels like it was built for survival in the wild.
2. Loot Progression and Structure:
One of the most satisfying things in D1 is the sense of progression. Loot drops felt organized and tied to your level and the specific activities you were playing. Currently, in Destiny 2, the loot feels a bit "cluttered"—everything is open and available everywhere, which reduces the excitement of a specific drop. I suggest a return to a more structured loot system where rewards feel unique to the planet or the expansion they belong to, making the hunt for gear more meaningful.
3. Weapon Organization:
The weapons in D1 felt like they had a distinct "role" and a more organized tier system. Bringing back that sense of "earning your way up" through specific level-gated drops would add a lot of satisfaction to the New Light and veteran experience alike.
Thank you for your hard work, and I hope to see more of that classic Destiny DNA in future updates.
