My ELO: -200. Yes, negative 200.
The other team's ELO's:
1512, 1410, 1021, 917, -blam!- and 361. Yes, 1512, 1410 and 1021.
This is common and TYPICAL.
Bungie knows that a 400 difference in ELO means that the superior player will win 90% of one on one engagements. With a 500 difference, the superior player wins roughly 99% of the time.

Edited by nonchalantone: 3/22/2026 5:24:57 PMAfter reading the title of your post, I'm surprised it's still up. They're literally threatening people with bans for way, way less. Or maybe it's just the ninjas catching feelings, and nothing against the ToS itself. Wouldn't surprise me at this point.

2 RepliesIt’s impossible to get a -200 elo unless one quits a lot.

I have been preaching this since D1. They changed to CBMM in D2 which made things better. After season 17, they went back to SBMM. Its not skill based when you can't when a match or the opponent is lagging and killing you instantaneously. Not to mention you opponents can't miss a sniper shot; even at close range. Very questionable and the really the believe that players that incredible are cheaters and doing some form of network manipulation.

3 RepliesI've always thought that ELO is refelction of how much lag compensation a player gets in Destiny 2 pvp.

1 ReplyI just can't see them putting any effort into D2 pvp now that Marathon has launched as I expect they want as many pvp mains as possible in their new game. 😥

1 ReplyThey don't use ELO.

1 Replybliz mostly matchmakes by balancing recent k/d ratios in control if you want easier matches, your k/d ratio needs to drop for 3 matches and then not go up very much when you get the easier match

3 Replies1) Players have up to around 3000 elo... 1500 is quite low. 2) Bungie doesn't use ELO. ELO is seasonal and highly dependent on playtime. Bungie's MMR is likely more accurate (they have more data to pull from). 3) Bungie uses OUTLIER protection. In other words, a top player (2500+ ELO or MMR equivalent) will never match with a bottom player (500 ELO). You are an outlier, and you probably did / do not match with any top players. 4) The population is very low. Even at the best of times, SBMm does not work well. Advocating for stricter SBMM at this point in the game's lifecycle is an effort in futility and downright harmful to the health of the game.
