I’m posting this because the current account unlinking policy has completely destroyed my willingness to continue supporting this game.
I understand the argument about security. I understand the need to prevent abuse. But completely disabling the ability to unlink platform accounts (Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, etc.) is not a real solution — it’s a blanket restriction that sacrifices legitimate players for the sake of convenience.
This policy does not “fix” security. It simply locks everything down and calls it protection.
Real players lose access to accounts. Emails get compromised. Platforms change. Life happens. And when that happens, there is absolutely no meaningful path to recover or correct the situation. No manual review. No enhanced verification. No structured appeal system. Just a hard wall.
The result? Years of progress, purchases, and time invested become worthless overnight.
The only options left are:
Start over from zero.
Create entirely new accounts.
Or quit.
That is not player protection. That is punishing the very people who supported the game.
What makes this worse is the inevitable response from some members of the community: “It doesn’t affect me.” That mindset is exactly what erodes trust between players and developers. Just because a policy hasn’t hurt you yet doesn’t mean it won’t. And dismissing legitimate concerns simply because you’re unaffected is part of the problem.
Security should not mean eliminating all flexibility. A serious company can implement layered verification, cooldown systems, manual investigations, or conditional unlinking. Other companies manage to balance security and user rights. A total lock is the easiest solution — not the smartest one.
This policy is the reason I decided to walk away from the game. After everything invested, being told there is no solution and no recourse is unacceptable. I will not continue investing time or money into a system that provides no protection for legitimate players when something goes wrong.
I genuinely hope this policy is reconsidered. Because right now, it feels less like security and more like indifference toward the player base.

Even before the rule change, you still needed to authenticate the account before unlinking, so, compromised email wouldnt have any impact. Platforms change, this one almost has a point, but again, cross save allows 1 account per platform, so adding an Epic account is possible, you just cant remove your Steam (for example). The amount of "legit" players that are impacted is most likely very small and while I think there could be better ways of handling this, overall I can understand the why to their reason.
