Invading could be better

I’m definitely not a fan of going in to invade only to be immediately slapped by a behemoth because I didn’t know this was a 1v1 invasion where they put you in a zone smaller than any small PVP map they have in the game. It’s not something that makes me want to keep playing this game mode. I get beat immediately for little to no rewards and there is nothing I can do but bring in a behemoth which I don’t have unlocked yet. Either let me know I’m about to be slapped or just don’t let me invade the solo players. I don’t understand why that’s even an option for solo players.

    Alright, alright, alright. - old

    It just feels like a very gimmicky version of PvP. If it wasn’t dominated by Renegades abilities, I would enjoy it a lot more.

    • Half the problem is renegade abilities as a whole, the second problem is that one person can load into the arena before the other, giving them prep time the other doesn't have. Hell, I literally had one double cross where I was in for about 10 seconds before the other guy spawn right within view of my behemoth in one of those big open areas on Venus 3 times in a row. No chance to fight or run away, and of course no spawn invincibility like there should be in any game where dying within seconds after spawning is the norm.

      • I mean I enjoy the 1v3 one since you have the entire map to try and plan your attack and they don’t know where you are either I loved it since it made me able to think and plan out my attack but it also made them able to do work while I planned it is perfect But the 1v1.. this one can go into the vault and be made forgotten This one I heavily dislike since all the things I praise the 3v1 for is removed, you don’t get to plan out your attack, you don’t get to be sneaky and wait for opportunities and most times you end up having to face a behemoth, a pike or a good guardian and only one of those I’m fine with fighting Since I don’t like vehicle combat in this game and don’t like the argument “just use your super” to fix a problem cause it leaves you open for their super

        • Bungies spaghetti code couldn't handle it but if shooting the crit on the walker would damage the pilot and you could kill them out of it invading would be 99% less cancer. Learn to use your guns and abilities don't sit back and hide in a litteral unkillable mech cus you suck at the game.

        • New way to make invading better. Just because I die twice shouldn’t be the end of the road why do I always have two revives left? I’m now sitting in the reward area not getting any rewards because I have two revives and they didn’t collect the engram so they have four slots and I have three. Why is this wasting my time?

        • When you load into the ready room with the shank and the portal, if the text prompt on the left of your screen says "get ready for a double-cross" that means it's a 1v1. The default is you vs three other Guardians, but the wait time would probably be too high, so if MM can't find you a "regular" invade experience, it will give you a 1v1. This is a wacky-fun-ability-spam mode that has more in common with Mayhem and Mario Cart than the rest of Destiny. Chose a loadout and abilities to counter the walker and Guardians with supers. And don't take it too seriously, it's a 3 minute match that drops Tier 5 loot win OR lose when your level is high enough. I'm at 40+ and still hunting for that red lightsaber drop.

            • The best way to fight against that is to use revitalize, get your super and use it on the walker. Keep one for yourself in your back pocket to even the score. I don’t always use the walker on the first go. First I will feel my opponent out and if we just want to have a shoot out I’ll do that. If the use the walker right away I Thundercrash or Golden gun them and then bring out a walker of my own. Hope this helps.

              • Nothing stops you from using busted abilities as well. I am a decent pvp player and I’ve had times where some pve players decimated me because they got a behemoth. I had to adapt and use my own behemoth. Ive won 90% of my invasions and let’s be honest, we don’t care about the loot. The only reason we even play invasions is for the red crystal. Invading can be fun, even the 1v1’s but thats all there is to it. It’s meant to be fun, so lighten up a little. The red crystal drops whether you win or lose. Enjoy the mode for what it is, get your crystal whenever the game blesses you with rng and then never play it again. If anything, I wish I could be invaded multiple times when im doing the pve side of the mode. It gets dull after you defeat the one and only invader you get per run. I would love to see more invasions and heck actually get rewarded for fending them off.

                  • Double-Cross is a thing because even the crop of inept middle-management that was in day-to-day control when Renegades was being built realised (or at least listened to actual devs who themselves realised) that PvE mains with no interest in PvP would queue into content with invasion, so invader queue times could get wildly out of hand very fast. Maybe they sould have implemented a 'no Double-Cross' toggle that came with a warning along the lines of 'you might have >10 min queue times if you only want 1v3s'.... But I could also see that breaking horribly just on the tech-side with current resource allocation priorities...... Honestly, I [i]prefer[/i] Double-Cross; facing 1 probable PvPer to me is easier than 3 possible PvPers. Plus I [i]like[/i] that I'm denying someone an easy farm of 3 people who honestly probably just want to be left alone, although now fewer PvE mains are forcing themselves into the invadeable nodes for Priority Contract reasons. I've got my Red Crystal, so I never need to invade again, but I'm also completely done with Frontier content and am ignoring it entirely; I'm now extremely bored of the activity, mostly due to the health modification, but also extreme fatigue with Yellow Bar annoying enemies (looking particularly at Wyverns here) and Yellow/Orange-Bar snipers in delta content.

                  • I did my crystal grind last week and I might as well share some less-known info since I have yet to see anyone else using this. While Invasion is definitely about going in offensively, I actually prefer to bring defensive tools to the fight and more often than not, its my opponent's arrogance to push that becomes their downfall. Using the vex deflector shield can protect you from literally everything except a perfectly placed airstrike. You can sit inside the dome with whatever your preferred weapon / ranged super is to pick people off. But what about Behemoths you say. One word, Divinity. Divinity's Judgment perk (The cage) completely bypasses the vehicle and goes right to the driver. Just paint the Behemoth from inside your shield, watch as the arrogant driver laughs at you for using a trace rifle, only for that smile to be slapped off their face as soon as the bubble pops, insta-killing them, and giving you a free vehicle. When I was doing the 1v1s I would graciously take the free vehicle for follow up kills, or throw it off the map if they brought Dragon's Breath (The other Behemoth counter). From there, playing Stasis Warlock with turrets and ranged weapons usually ended up with me getting pushed in which case, Divinity again. As for the 1v3s I was usually the "gracious invader" who would always let the other folks get me once for the revive token. If I killed a behemoth driver (Or in the event of the run where I got my red crystal, two), I would leave it be since you are effectively "ruining" someone's PvE experience. Definitely a very gimmicky mode, but one that you can very easily "play to". Trust me on Divinity though, it's hilarious how many kills you will rack up with it.
