Don't be an -blam!-

Remember not everyone has the same opportunity for skill as you do. Hey there, you don't know me. I've played destiny from when it began, I've played every expansion and never "chosen" to take a break, but I did have one forced on me. 2 years ago at Christmas I had a heart attack and died. I was resuscitated, but my brain was damaged, and now I have problems with my short & medium term memory. It means I really struggle with learning new changes in the game, or playing new areas. I used to be "average good", now I'm okay but I know I'm not the best. Mostly I just dawdle my way through this game playing solo, because I don't like to hold others back, but I am also a completionist, which means I like to complete storylines and get gear and stuff (I guess most of us are the same). One of parts of the game I avoid a lot is Trials, because you know ... Trials, but sadly for me I like to get the weapons and armour for everything that I can(by myself). I went into trials today to get the new hand cannon, dreading going in because I knew I was going to spend a couple of hours being cannon fodder, but hey, I've died many times before ;) so it couldn't be so bad right. Well in most cases it wasn't so bad, I pottered around getting beaten up and also occasionally getting some kills, but the last game I played was with the most obnoxious player I've ever come up against in destiny, who proceeded to send abusive messages telling me how rubbish I am at the game. I thought on the off chance of him catching this post, or anyone else who thinks being a digital ponce is okay, I'd just provide some feedback. In response to your questions : Yes, I am stupid(Thanks brain damage). Yes I am rubbish at trials(can't blame brain damage). I don't know if I'm the worst player ever, I think you were being slightly harsh there, I'm pretty sure there are worse than me or I would never win and I seem pretty average there :) My brain damage is permanent, your attitude doesn't have to be. Keep in mind this game is played by many different people with many different issues, don't make the only thing that people remember for is being an -blam!-.

Please don’t take this as a personal criticism— because I agree with what you’ve said? But trials simply isn’t designed to be an inclusive experience, no matter what anybody says to the contrary. People are jerks in trials? But we didn’t make the scaffold the mode is built on? Bungie did that. And very little in the mode’s ideal has changed since House of Wolves. The core principle has always been the same. You can’t expect to have a “community” among your playerbase when you actively give people reasons to *not* play together. Which, trials is the longest running example of this in Destiny— with raids increasingly following suit, and starting especially with Spire of Stars. I wish more people understood or accepted this about the game. If we did, the game would be in a different state— as would the playerbase. Trials is the index of everything wrong with the game. Always has been. From cheating, to poor sportsmanship, to an increasingly toxic community. It all comes back to trials and its design philosophies. The mode is unworthy of you guardian.
