When did this looter "shooter" turn into ability spam simulator? Can we get our weapons to feel as powerful as the constant ability spam? Im tired of God roll tier 5 weapons feeling like bb guns that need multiple mags to kill a red bar. Or only used to proc greandes and melees that one shot whole champions and bosses. Bungie it is possible to make both weapons and abilities hit the same it doesn't need to be for one to be good you have to gimp the other. At this point just take weapons out of the game and give us 8 armor slots.

1 ReplyEdited by COMBATICUS: 12/2/2025 10:03:00 PMDestiny has always been guns and abilities. It was never one or the other, at least from my experience since D1 up to now. You should always have the option for both or one or the other (as in, build into it, and still be viable) So, instead of complaining about abilities, ask for more weapon buffs. And since im sure this is a pvp issue you're having. Ask for a mode that does guns only. Why call for nerfa on abilities when weapons are just meh. Of course, it'll look like abilities are way better when the other is lackluster.

2 RepliesEdited by lonewolf-qc: 12/3/2025 2:24:57 AMThat's exactly what i'm saying. In D1 and early D2 weapons and armors mattered because you could only do soft builds. Now Bungie has let D2 lean heavily on heavy builds which makes people only do ability spam which makes weapons and armors almost useless. It was fun in D1 and early D2 when the debuff on one of your abilities was gone and you could use it to get you out of trouble, now abilities spam just melt everything.

1 ReplySubclass 3.0 basically was the start of weapons being completely dead lol. 30th anniversary had things at a nice balance in pve and pvp.

1 ReplyI still feel like my weapon systems are just fine, gunplay still feels weighted. As of late though, I have moved towards more ability focus, over gunplay, but that was my decision. I have watched my abilities nuke down a boss only to stop nuking as the boss gets to a sliver of health, and my abilities still hitting it, but it just stopped taking down health. To me this is the disturbing trend games have, in that they no longer want you to have the easy win. There is some algorithm/design out there in programming that people thought was useful. It'll map your inputs to cut them off, it'll spam abilities and weapons...and they are present in the game. What's more disturbing, meeting an ability spammer, ability cheater, weapon system god...all of which we are about to face off against in Dredgen Bael. Plus I am fairly certain this is why they have been collecting PvP and PvE data over the years, we are getting the anti cheat version of us.
