Unless I'm mistaken, I don't believe we've seen any faction or even single unit of Vex that has used Stasis, Strand, Resonant, or Nightmare power / technology.
Not even the Sol Divisive care to integrate Darkness into their units, with their closest connection to it being the Black Heart from years ago.
Even Maya hasn't used Darkness weaponry for her Choral Vex .
Maybe this is more of a gameplay thing, but every other race so far has had at least a minor connection to Darkness power in some way.
((Fallen have used both Stasis and Strand across different houses, Cabal Shadow Legion use Strand and Resonance shielding (Barant Imperium probably has more Darkness weapons), Dread and [Dire] Taken are pretty obvious, and Hive use all kinds of things like Nightmares, Ascendant Realm stuff, Resonance probably, Wrathborne (not sure if that counts), and others.))
So anyway, is there a lore reason why Vex don't use Darkness in their weapons or other technology?
I might not have the firmest grasp on the concepts of Stasis and Strand, but anything or anyone should technically be able to wield them right?
Why don't the Vex throw units at the issue like The Guardian did until they learn to master these powers?
And I know right now they're using the Echo, through Maya, to learn and possibly seize paracausality, but why don't they capture and study Taken, Dread, Lightbearers including Hive? They sort of did this in the past, and it probably wouldn't yield anything, but it could lead to them creating Light-suppressing technology like the Cabal did.
Speaking of, how did the Cabal make such tech before the Vex?

The vex are a micro organic lifeform using robot bodies and utilise time travel and extra dimensional physics as well as a deep unparalleled understanding of how the universe functions on a fundermental level . All this thanks in part to insanely complex and huge computing systems that can predict and simulate everything. Paracausality in simple terms takes the fundermental rules that the universe works on and cheat codes them to do stuff like change fate (saved Saint 14 and dragged him into our timeline) for the vex their main tool for understanding just dosent have a substantial understanding at a basic level to fully grasp it so the vex can't use it yet. But the vex can in theory learn to access it at a basic level if they put the whole collective to the task Bare in mind we haven't seen the full capacity of the vex we've essentially been facing them at a ok your a pain level they could swarm the system with trillions of vex forms if they wanted. To the vex they don't need to use or master paracausality it's irrelevant as they can just wait us out and eventually outlive everything. Side note. The vex have sent one combat form our way the wyvern the rest are non combat focused forms meant for other tasks so imagine what there real combat focused force is like if they started to be aggressive instead of the more relaxed vex we get. Not counting conductor or sol divisive as they are smaller factions.

Vex can’t comprehend paracausality
-
I’m gonna sound like an idiot. But could be because darkness is part of the mind, and with the vex being hive minds, just y probably don’t know how to harness it

I don't care what anyone says but when a hydra can force stomp without any feet that is darkness.

2 RepliesMy understanding is not only do the Vex not use any Paracausal (i.e. Light or Darkness) powers (yes, they do those damage types in game, because game mechanics, but I'm talking lore-wise), but they fully cannot comprehend them and (most) actively dislike them. To (most) Vex prediction is everything, and by definition Paracausality is unpredictable: not "Takes a Matrioshka Brain to compute so quasi-unpredictable", but actually, truly impossible to predict. And the Vex hate that, because it then means they cannot plan, and their entire dominance is based on predicting what you will do and already having a plan in place to counter it. If they used any Paracausal power, they would themselves be introducing an unpredictable element into theior own predictive models, and that is anathema to (most) or them. So by my understanding it's not a technological limitation that prevents the Vex from using Paracausality, but an intellectual/behavioural one. And yes, the '(most)s' are all in reference to the Sol Divisive who you had already identified: they came to the conclusion that since Paracausality ruined every prediction and made a foe truly dangerous, well, if you can't beat them, join them; and they were exiled from the rest of the Vex and excised from the Vex Network because of that. It's literally where the 'Divisive' in their name comes from; their decision that led to them dividing from the rest of the Collective. But in terms of the suppression-tech; that tech might well be itself rooted in Paracausal sources. The Psions have an ancient connection to Nezarec, and the Cabal have also encountered the Hive (whose tech is Darkness-linked) before they encountered humanity; in Duality it is revealed that Caiatl's name bares the Hive prayer-word 'Aiat' intentionally, and that she was named after a star, so that name must be fairly ancient in-universe. Thorn-darts are known to consume the Light (it was a modified recovered Thorn Dart that was used to kill Sundance in Forsaken), and they are linked to Hive tech. If Light suppression does require some other source of Paracausality (aka the Darkness), that is the most likely reason the Vex don't have any.
