What if... the Cayde we met in the Pale Heart...
Got the upgrades Maya was researching SiVA for?
As documented in Chioma's logs during Veil Containment.
The very research she also used to enhance humanoid bodies, i.e. The Cloudstriders.
We assumed he healed our ghost acting as a conduit for the Traveler's power/'light'.
I think he used his upgrades to revive our ghost.
I think that Cayde was fully constructed of Quicksilver Nanites kinda like the Liquid Metal Terminator.
Recent events have me thinking me about Cayde.
Cayde never died. He's virtually immortal.
Listen to the logs, Maya was trying to enhance SiVA for integration into Exos.
And Cayde was right there.
Now we have an idea what Quicksilver Nanites are, what they do.

This season... upon reaching X guardian rank, I can't remember... 6 or 7 would make the most sense.
At Cayde's memorial... Ikora has a VO message talking about Cayde.
Something to the effect that he really isn't gone... he always shows up whenever she truly needs him.
I'm paraphrasing... but that happened, you might have a marker there if you never triggered it.

2 RepliesI like your idea. But Cayde is gone. Unfortunately they haven't done anything reasonable with Uldren aka Crow. Another not used opportunity. But in all fairness, Zavala has not been used either for a longer time. And genuinely I very much liked Ikora's storyline in EoF, I always had perceived her as a cold bureaucratic Vanguard officer and now this story twist? Great idea. Bottom line, yes, we should both get some new likeable and "evil" characters as making use of the old proven ones.

Where he [i]wasnt[/i]. So he never had the chance to get upgraded. Another sad attempt for attention.
