Edit: What does "Weighted Throwing Knife gets a second bounce" mean? I've been trying Athrry's Embrace in the shooting range and the knife doesn't seem to actually bounce. Am I misunderstanding the Exotic description?

I've been trying to level up my Hunter, but I admit: I suck at it.
I put Powerful Attraction on my cape and have plenty of Orb generation, where I'm running into problems is when Orbs aren't easy to come by, like during boss battles and whatnot.
I feel like something isn't clicking, like there's a trick or a gameplay style that I'm just not getting. Or are Hunters just glass cannons and I need to learn to play around that?
The build I'm using right now is Gifted Conviction with a few extra points in Class to get the Overshield, that Overshield has saved my -blam!- more times than I can count. Should I put even more points into Class for the time being?
Thanks for any advice you can offer!

4 RepliesI’ve been gradually shifting away from Hunter since Final Shape for this reason. Here’s some general tips I’ve collected over time: Overall, accept you’re more squishy than the other classes. Play range and cover. I like to run a Solar heal clip weapon when I can, but that’s just extra for when I screw up. Solar: Healing nade is your best friend. You want it as much as possible. Arc: Combo blow is enough for lower level content, but stay on Gifted Conviction for anything above that. Void: Devour. Need I say more? (Invis is nice for panic situations, I guess.) Strand: Yikes. Woven mail will be your crutch, that’s about all you have. For Grapple builds use Assassin’s Cowl or Cyrtarachne’s Facade. For anything else, play range. Stasis: Really the only viable exotic (in my opinion) is Mask of Fealty, which means you won’t have much survivability. You’ll have Stasis shard DR and healing.
