It's simple. Immersion and D1's gameplay loop. When I first bought Destiny I landed in this world that was loud, could hear the trees rustling, enemies off in the distance, rocks tumbling. The tower felt alive. I really felt like I was a guardian in an active world that had endless mysteries. I got that same feeling the first time I played Arc Raiders and it made me a little sad. The way Arc Raiders feels is how I hope Destiny 2 would be. A gritty looter where I visit different planets, complete missions, farm materials, kill bad guys in Lost Sectors that held random treasures. You could have some planets that you have to extract from and some you don't. Still keep in Grandmaster Nightfalls, Strikes, Dungeons and Raids. So then I get on tonight to check out the event in Destiny 2. I want to play and beat challenges. But guess what? YOU LOCK MULTIPLE FUN STRIKES AND PINNACLES UNTIL I GET AN OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT OF KILLS IN ONE OF 4 MAPS WITH SPECIAL WEAPONS. 2 OF THOSE ARE SOLO MAPS. Who in the world is over there making that decision. Seriously. You need to tell us because it's embarassing. I played the stupid solo mission and one strike and I am at 35%. I am running two specials. I could care less about the holofoils or the helmet. I'm just mad I wasted time on this game instead of playing Arc Raiders. It's a sad slow death and even if it stays alive it's going the wrong direction. For everyone that might yell at me. I don't want to hate this game. I've been here for over a decade. But what is this game anymore? We have this store called Mega Replay. It has all the old systems and games I use to play. I feel like that's what the portal should be called. Mega Replay. That's all this game is now. Replay old content for weapons everyone is going to have. OR Hop into Arc Raiders and fight my way out with some random loot I got off a dead guy who got smoked by a couple Hornets. Which to you sounds more fun?
