In the latest weapon dev insight bungie stated that bows "needed just a little bit of help in PvE and PvP". Why do they keep penalizing bows in PvE? Just doing some quick tests of different weapons in the shooting range shows they need a massive damage boost in PvE. We have known this for a long time. And this doesn't even take into account as difficulty increases bows are penalized by needing an extra shot. But they are going to give us a measly 13-20ms draw time boost to the base draw time while keeping the draw time floor at the same place? Comeon man! Changing the base draw time does nothing. Nobody is running anything but the fast draw perks because you made the other stats on bows useless. The dps values below are tested at the base gun (no damage perks) over multiple reloads. These were quick test just to show their relative weakness.
180 scout - 130dps
Precision bow - 75dps
Longbow - 93dps
720 AR - 125 dps
390 pulse - 129 dps
900 smg - 150dps
This should be easy. Take the scout damage divided by the bow damage and buff bow damage by that percentage.

1 ReplyI’ll be honest, I don’t think I’ve used a legendary bow since the Forsaken era. They’ll always just be scout rifles with extra steps for me. The exotics at least add some variety in the combat, but their lack of interaction with the elemental verbs make me avoid them for the most part as well. Crossbows on the other hand are something I can get behind and I hope we see more special weapon versions.
