Bungie, Fix the Monument to Seasons Past: Make Armor Unlocks Account-Wide!
Hey Guardians, if you've dipped into the Monument to Seasons Past in Destiny 2's Tower lately, you know the drill: grind your heart out for those precious Chronologs through the current Rewards Pass (about 1,500 free, another 1,500 paid per season), then head to the kiosk next to the Monument to Lost Lights to snag cosmetics from vaulted seasons. Sounds great, right? A way to catch up on missed armor sets, ornaments, weapons, and finishers without FOMO forever? Wrong. It's a predatory grindfest disguised as player-friendly, and Bungie's per-character purchase system for armor is straight-up insulting.
Here's the scam: In the live Rewards Pass, progression is account-wide. Hit a rank, unlock a Hunter chest? Claim it once on your Hunter, and boom—it's in your collections for infinite reprints on alts via the armor archive. Simple, fair, done. But at the Monument? Spend 200–1,000 Chronologs on that same-style armor piece per character. Buy Warlock gauntlets? Switch to Titan—locked. Hunter legs? Nope, repurchase. Chronologs aren't raining from the sky; math from the community shows you're earning half a past season's worth per new pass. Kitting one character across a few old seasons? Months of grind. All three? Double it, or pony up Silver for Archived Passes (600 each for 500 Chronologs + "free" claims on progressed stuff—but premiums still cost per char).
This isn't a bug—it's intentional design, per Bungie's TWAB reveals, to "preserve rarity." Bull. It's a cash grab on a currency that's already stingy, punishing multi-class players and alts while the live pass treats us right. Players are furious: Reddit's r/DestinyTheGame calls it "disgusting," with threads exploding over the per-char locks—"unlocked Season of the Deep armor on Warlock, swapped to Hunter: still locked, needs more Chronologs!" One post: "I REALLY hope this ain't intentional cause if it is then we gonna need way more chronologs then i thought." Another: "The Monument to Seasons Past is excellent. The chronolog rate is not"—46 upvotes, math proving the grind's brutality. Destructoid questions the whole system: "The earning rate of Chronologs might just make or break this new system," noting no clarity on account-wide ornaments.
Bungie, this betrays the spirit of the season pass you built. Players bought those passes (or grinded them), earned the ranks—why triple the cost for alts now? It's anti-consumer, especially post-layoffs when retention matters. Make all Monument armor, ornaments, and class-specific cosmetics account-unlocked upon purchase, just like live. Chronologs stay grindy for "rarity," but fair across your roster. Tweak rates if needed, add Silver exchange buffs for vets, but stop nickel-and-diming alts.
The community's screaming—Bungie forums, Reddit, Steam: "Ridiculous pay/reward scheme." Listen, patch it in the next update. Turn this Monument into a celebration, not a slog. Guardians deserve better.
