I saw this from a mile away but never got around to voicing my concern. I just felt like maybe giving it a try to see if I'm wrong, but looks like my concerns were right.
The forced power delta SUCKS. The thing that makes it horrible is the scoring system forcing higher and higher difficulties. Before this patch, I was having a great time with the difficulty. I was almost always able to find a good compromise between cranking the difficulty up and still having a fun enough time, but now I'm FORCED to play on Ultimate to make any progress and it's just not fun anymore.
If you're going to implement set difficulties, then what's the point in requiring higher difficulties to make progress? It should be that higher difficulties increase the reward, NOT be the sole way to progress.
I'm actually finding myself just not wanting to play. As a solo player who enjoys fun more than difficulty, what am I even left to do? Fireteam and Pinnacle Ops are now no longer viable for me without matchmaking. Solo Ops are beyond stale. Crucible has some good moments, but is often just aggravating with everyone crutching on meta options.
The forced power deltas need to be reverted or the scoring system needs to change. This is just stupid.

That was my thought when I reached 500 a couple weeks ago, these deltas hurt anyone engaging with the leveling system. Because lets be real the portal changes are for people that don't play the game. everyone is praising the power grind changes but im sitting here thinking well I can't play any content on level now and still get rewarded for my time. So why bother.

these two mechanics exist solely to waste your time it's like adding slot machines to drops, it makes players spend more time for a single reward there is no player benefit at all, just increased grind pretty much the theme of EoF - INCREASED GRIND WITH NO INCREASE IN REWARDS
