First thing, I love this game, it got me back into gaming. That is why the state of the game is so painful. Going to try to keep this short there are all kinds of examples of what I am going to talk about.
Bungie what are you doing?
As someone who works in the business world, WHY ARE YOU NOT TAKING CARE OF YOUR CASH COW?
Seems like you are more worried about Marathon. Why? You are not making any money off of it.
The decisions you have made on this game the last few years have been awful.
The game is way too grindy. I only have time to play one character because it takes so long to level up.
Bungie do you realize that you have 3 games in 1 because each character makes the game play different.
Then you add things that add absolutely nothing to the game: Fishing, Guardian Rank, and Accommodations. The time spent on designing these could have been spent on game play design.(Strikes/PvP)
Bungie you are getting way too cute with the game. KISS method Keep It Simple Stupid sometimes it is best to make things simple. That is why Destiny 1 was so successful. IT WAS FUN TO PLAY. Now I have to make sure all my mods are correct and the game mechanics are getting way out of hand.
KISS method…TAKE CARE OF YOUR CUSTOMERS…Make the game fun to play again and not feel like a job.

Imagine if Apple never updated after the iPhone 4. Now imagine that’s exactly how Bungie does business. Some people still love their iPhone 4. Destiny’s biggest issue is that it’s old and the company never invested in its future.
-
Execs pumped up future earnings by creating multiple incubation projects. Flipped the company on future P/E ratios. Took their cut and left. Like a corporate raider leasing out the building the business it already owned to the business and killing the underlying cash cow but extracting all the blood it can. Some folks won for sure. Many lost. This is short term MBA stuff for sure. Not long term business MbA stuff.
-
Marathon is gonna flop harder than Mind’s Eye. Nobody wants to play Extraction shooters anymore. That was a fad that died down after zombies. Bungie didn’t get the memo.
-
There is only one of two possible answers... 1. A grotesque level of incompetence. 2. Malice: Bungie is actively trying kill off Desinty.
-
What Bungie is doing is trying to run out the clock. They don't have the resources or the interest to Make Destiny Great Agaiin. What remains to be seen is what Sony will do to Bungie - and if Sony will bring Destiny back once Bungie is decisively disposed of.
-
As someone that worked the corporate world, you sound like me. But Bungie already milked their cash cow when Sony paid them billions for it. It’s like the company sold, what do I care? But I chuckled over KISS and I could name many more. Dirt Foot (do it right the first time) actually DIRTFT

Well said sir!!!! I am a die hard Destiny player. Been playing since day 1. I would like to see two things …better content and getting rid of players who need to cheat to get ahead in the game. After all that is what it is, a game!!! Meant to be enjoyed and relieve stress not cause it.

Fishing WAS fun.

Edited by mirage: 10/14/2025 5:54:26 AMSumming up Bungie these days - Create 5 problems, solve 1, roll back another, create 2 more with broken updates or stupid decisions. But hey, they’re always listening .. only Bungie knows who they’re listening to as it’s definitely not the majority of their playerbase.

They phased out Legendary Cores, in order to introduce Enhancement Cores, only to recently announce that those would be phased out not even a year after dropping Legendary Cores. My head hurts just trying to keep up with what Bungie is doing.

💡 How to Revive Destiny 2? Give Us the “Exotic Heart”! Everyone keeps talking about how to “fix” Destiny 2 — less monetization, more content, better balance. But what if the solution is the opposite? What if Destiny needs to become overpowered again? ⸻ 🩸 The Concept: The Exotic Heart Every Exotic weapon and armor piece could have a chance to gain an Exotic Heart — an ultra-rare, mystical upgrade that takes the item to a whole new level. These Hearts can’t be crafted, focused, or targeted. They’re pure RNG, incredibly rare drops — the kind of loot that makes you scream in disbelief when you finally get one. ⸻ 🔥 Examples: • Hard Light – Exotic Heart: Kills trigger weakening explosions. Kills on weakened targets cause an additional blinding explosion. Also: no damage falloff. • One-Eyed Mask – Exotic Heart: Keep all original perks, plus a permanently active radar, even while aiming. ⸻ 🧠 Why This Could Work Destiny 2 has become too predictable. Everything is balanced, controlled, and carefully tuned. The “Exotic Heart” system would bring back mystery, excitement, and prestige. It would give players something legendary to chase again — that wild dream of finding the perfect, one-of-a-kind version of their favorite Exotic. In short: ➡️ More chaos. ➡️ More fantasy. ➡️ More Destiny. ⸻ 💬 What do you think? Would this system be genius or completely broken? Would you love the idea of your favorite Exotic having a hidden, god-tier version out there in the wild? Or would that level of RNG and power creep destroy balance? And honestly? If Destiny is going down, let’s go out with a Gjallarhorn moment — a final, glorious explosion of chaos and fun that reminds us why we fell in love with this game in the first place. 💥

Edited by MythosPraxis: 10/14/2025 9:12:34 PMThe problem is that what’s good for business isn’t necessarily good for games. This game is in the state it’s in exactly because of businessmen doing nothing other than administrate the crisis. There is no contradiction in the controversy you have indexed. It’s the only thing that also explains why Sony was willing to spend so much money for seemingly nothing. Because what they’ve been doing until now has nonetheless been profitable. The confidence the MBA gives people is incredible. Y’all think you’re MacArthur Fellows to man, and it’s hilarious.

D1 is literally less than half of the game D2 is but it's more fun ATM. D1 is at least a COMPLETE game while D2 is a collection of disjointed pieces, most of which reward nothing useful, held together by the "portal" which is a mobile app's selection screen. . Bungie doesn't need to keep creating new locations and activities that they are going to throw away in a year. Disposable content, by its natural, is short lived and burned though quickly. . D2 needs an "April Update" asap. It needs its CORE PLAY LISTS to be addressed. Update pvp. Give some maps to Gambit. Revamp strikes. In D1's April Update, strikes were updated with Taken enemies and Taken gear to show the influence of Oryx. D2 should update classic strikes updated with Vex and Red Army enemies to show the influence of the Conductor. Then add in some Vex themed tier 4 and 5 weapon and armour drops to give players something to chase. . Bungie, stop trying to change Destiny into a disposable mobile game and look at why people loved it in the first place.

I totally agree with what you said. It was so much fun in D1, doing your pinnacle stuff (3 strikes, 3 pvp matches, etc) when the game reseted on tuesday, then you could just play D1 the rest of the week or play other games until the next reset. You had soft builds depending on which nodes you equipped, now builds are too heavy, it's insane. Now the weapons and armors are not important, it's the fragments and the mods for your builds.
Bungie…What are you doing? The game is way too grindy. I only have time to play one character because it takes so long to level up.
I know your question was rhetorical, but tomorrow Bungie is releasing a patch that should improve the Leveling grind, Portal activities will be dropping gear at a higher Light level, and bonus gear will match that Light level. They announced the changes in the September 25th TWID. Not that that does us any good tonight, but Bungie is making changes to speed up the grind.

Your level is spread across all your characters so you really only need to play on one character.
