Why are they staying silent?

Video is about the stats not the creator because typing all the stats would just see people saying there's no dropoff, people are at work, people always come back, etc etc . Jason shrier forecast this a year ago, that destiny is in its death spiral & Sony & bungie know it's over, & destiny will become a gane you play once a month not once a day. Forecasting all content will prinarily be reused assets & balance patches. The only thing we get from known info is that all the marathon pre order bonuses are items in destiny 2 - so they're openly trying to take the remaining players over to marathon & that renegades is more reused areas (mars D1) with the same model as now & no levelling progression so we"re certain to get more falloff. Is it actually over? Like for real? Thoughts?

Solonops is still an option... And we can test builds alone in the new training sector. I have over 40,000 hours in this game, and i dont want to quit yet

      • This year of Destiny was Bungie’s tryout. Would there be a player base after The Final Shape? I guess we’ve found out. This is why Bungie stays quiet — and why we won’t hear anything until after Renegade. The reason is simple: there’s still a bit of hope left in the community. All these videos are built around a make-or-break moment. But if you ask me, Bungie already knows this is the end. It’s easy to follow the saying, “If you don’t have anything good to say, say nothing,” until all the Star Wars fans buy Renegade and the extra cosmetics in the Eververse store. Once everything has been bought by the consumers, Bungie will likely come out and announce that the Destiny franchise is ending — or being sold, like Halo was back in the day. In other words, this could be their final cash grab. And honestly, that’s a sensible move from a business standpoint. After this, Bungie will see if Marathon succeeds. If it doesn’t, they’ll likely fall back on Sony’s gaming division for job opportunities — and that will be the end of Bungie as we know it. It’s all a logical chain of events.

        • This strikes me as another bad relationship type take… talk to me Bungie! I’ve done nothing but gripe about you for the last 2 months, you owe me a response. Nothing they say will satisfy anyone, heck nothing they could possibly say will be believed because the “community” has been in tantrum mode since forever. This is the type of crap that datto and roflwaffles and others have been preaching about… the “community” killing Destiny. This is the type of crap that dude who wrote the article about “jaded” players was talking about. There is a subgroup of Destiny players that stew in negativity, try to farm it out to anyone that joins the game, and generally just try to make the whole experience around the game as miserable as possible… all while trying to pawn it off as passion for what it could be or some such trite garbage abuser mentality. I honestly don’t blame them a bit for going quiet because sometimes the best thing to do is say nothing at all.

          • So after rewatching the vidoc and seeing how you can change the colors of the lightsabers bungie could totally shock us but it's total copium. Blue stasis, green strand and wait no red... Red Sub Class A New Hope. Sorry I spoiled the surprise

            • I typically don’t trust anything lucky10 says, but the again he just says exactly per script everything all the others say. He didn’t have any original content except the case where he hurt his son.

              • Sometimes you better stay silent and look smart rather than open you mouth and prove otherwise. What do you want Bungie to say about low player pop? It’s only about what they do, and they have done stuff already. Also, it’s a low period rn in D2 and BF6, BL4 are there so it probably sucked some players. For Renegades I bet a lot of people will be waiting for the review and community feedback before buying this time. So pre order number won’t mean much either. You gotta be careful in reading too much in the numbers here. But yes I agree D2 is entering a low maintenance, low cost phase and I don’t see it will ever go back. But that does not mean the game is dead.

                • Unfortunately yes, it might actually be over. Bungie has continued radio silence because sony more than likely already sent the news out. They're gonna limp across the finish line to Renegades release, and after that it's over. Either the studio will be liquidated and sony will find a new team to make D3, or they're going to liquidate anyway but destiny as a whole will get put on the shelf. The fact that we've somehow hit the absolute lowest population in the games history, and neither bungie or somy have said anything is very telling. It makes me sad.. I put over a decade of my life into this world, and watching it be neglected and turned into microtransaction hell is genuinely very painful. There is no other game like destiny, and when it's gone I really don't know where the community will end up. It's been a pleasure guardians.

                • I think a lot of people are not considering the fact that there have been a lot of changes with the company. For example, there is now a new head of franchise for destiny. So it is quite possible that this “roadmap“ that they are working on is taking so long to come out because they are making major adjustments to shift away from the current direction of the IP. It is possible that they understand that they cannot just simply make some Band-Aid solution for this. That they are going to have to announce some major commitments going forward.

                  • The plan was for Bungie to go multi IP. My assumption was that they’d have to alternate focus between Destiny and Marathon. That would explain the current situation, but nobody seems to know what Sony’s plans are. I can’t see Sony dropping a valuable IP like Destiny and Marathon will obviously depend on how well it performs. So maybe nothing’s changed yet and multi IP is still the goal for Bungie.

                    • Definitely and they have known this for a while - I think around final shape pre/post launch. The game is now completely set up for minimal development and maximum monetisation and player grind. They’ll keep this model until the profit margins go so low that it’s not worth continuing. So what happens next… Most likely Marathon fails - it will be a good game probably but won’t be the next big hit and won’t capture a big enough market share. Then Bungie folds completely into Sony Marathon may get more PvE only aspects and possible character progression stuff Destiny 2 will continue on life support and may close Destiny in some form will likely come back under the Sony banner after many years when players have grown sentimental and not toxic towards the brand.

                    • Hoping something happens over the next few months. I’ve been playing BF6 and it’s just not the same. I know PvP is in a trash -blam!- state right now, but still I’ll always prefer it. Especially during Lightfall release, I had the most fun there.

                        • I bought this entire year as a preorder because I knew it would probably be the last year of Destiny 2. They show the preview of Edge Of fate and there's literally no content. So we all knew it had the potential to be one of the worst expansions ever released. The story was surprisingly different, okay even. But then the fall. There's nothing else there. The new power grind mechanism no one asked for, and a portal that should have been nothing more than a reworked Vanguard Ops. Renegades isn't going to save Bungie. We already know it's on a reused world with no real changes made to improve anything. Sad to say but it's definitely over. Streamers are obviously the first to bolt - which is telling. Just exposing that without a decent tale none of them really care about anything but themselves. All of this "I'll be here until the end" - what a complete joke. They all bolted the second they could lol Game has collapsed in a hail of hubris and selfishness that regular fans of the game have had to deal with for years, already, between the company and the streamers. So, the end comes predictably, and obviously.

I don't see it shutting down totally yet. What I can see, though, is if(edit: when) Renegades flops; Destiny is going into maintenance mode. Where all it gets is stability and bug fixes until it is time to pull the plug.

                          • I figure a lot more of their human resource is being used to try to save the DOA Marathon than we will know until the studio is gone.
