The open world, the dark tone, the new manufacturers, the story, none of it clicked for me. BL4 ended up feeling like a generic open world looter shooter, I didn't enjoy it as much as I enjoyed BL3.
Everyone is crowing about performance issues which I, luckily, managed to sidestep somehow, but the game underneath is kind of... not great. Good, not great.
I've got over 300 hours in BL2 and BL3 each, and BL4 I was burned out by the 30 hour mark. It just felt kind of generic to me, y'know?
I'm glad people seem to be enjoying BL4, but if there's a BL5 I hope it returns to form, refocus on what made the franchise great.

I’d say it’s the best borderlands yet in gameplay terms. Performance aside it’s a 9/10 to me

I feel that's a major problem with gaming and entertainment in general today. People hype themselves up (the studios definitely help; they've mastered the art of hype) about upcoming media, getting a vision of what they expect it to be but when the reality doesn't match the fantasy it's viewed as a massive failure. I've told others in the past they need to temper their expectations at least to a degree, otherwise life will be an endless string of disappointments.

I guess, every opinion is different. I enjoy BL4, you don't. You enjoy BL3, i really didn't. But we both enjoyed BL2.
