"A story doesn't need to be true to be believed it just needs to be told" It taught me to look at things more deeply question what I've been told what I've learned do my own research look through my own eyes and not someone else's not everything isi as it appears and Even proven facts could still be not entirely the truth.... There's also an old story about a frog in a well Don't remember the exact title but it's a good read....

Edited by Stalkholm: 10/9/2025 8:23:58 PMA wise king asked his court to bring him words that would keep him humble in times of plenty, and hopeful in times of lack. When the court came back they brought him a ring inscribed with the phrase: "This, too, shall pass." Been saying that to myself a lot recently, TBH.

Oh, hold on, I just remembered a better one.
I heard this story about a fish. He swims up to this older fish and says: "I'm trying to find this thing they call the ocean." "The ocean?" Says the older fish. "That's what you're in right now." "This?" Says the young fish. "This is just water. What I want is the ocean."
Evil only prospers when good men do nothing. If it's stupid but it works, then it ain't stupid. He who defends everything defends nothing. Sic Semper Evello Mortem Tyrranis. (Thus, I bring only death to tyrants) Si vis Pacem, Para Bellum. (If you wish for peace, prepare for war) Eímai áxios
Above are a few lines that have shaped me.
Too many to nail down but here's a good one: "I think a plan is just a list of things that don't happen." - Parker, 'Way of the Gun'

I forget the specific phrasing but it was something along the lines of "Truly doing good almost always requires personal sacrifice.". From my experience, a lot of people are happy to do good... As long as it's also convenient for them. But, truly helping someone else isn't going to be convenient. Like, almost ever. By recognizing this fact, you're in turn led to another question of what's more important: helping others, or personal convenience. The answer, for me, at least, is helping others. If someone asks me for help, and it's something I can help with, I almost always will, even when it makes things worse for me personally.

"put in everything"- my old X-country coach. he always told us that if we didn't puke at the end of the race that we simply were letting our minds hold us back. he was mostly joking but the message is still important.

I'll go first: "Just say no! Calories cannot legally enter your body without your consent" This unironically helped me lose 60 pounds...
