Feedback from the first wave (IYKYK)
Random thoughts from a long time destiny player:
1. You forgot what made Destiny fun:
a. Open world and helping randoms - the portal means its no longer an open world game.
b. The power fantasy - gain power should mean something. Power deltas take that away.
c. What happened to play your way ???? Power deltas take that away.
d. Sorry DMG but raid night is not back. The rot started with revive tokens. Raids (and dungeons) have no entry point to learn the mechanics, it used to be fun taking randoms through their first raid. With the latest raids you have to check their builds and make sure they can survive before even thinking about teaching a mechanic. Wrath and its predecessors are perfect for those hero moments and just getting a first clear for someone who cleared ads and learnt what everyone else was doing. Why not bring that back with a low chance of T5 and exotics?
2. You’ve never got PVP right in D2 - matchmaking has always sucked for the lower skilled player.
3. The new content is not new, you’re fooling no one.
4. Stop making content for streamers and professional gamers (ive nothing against them but they are not your main player base) and think about the ordinary person.
5. Renegades fills me with dread. It feels like it will be a proving ground for technology being developed for Marathon. I’m not a PVP player so care little for extraction shooters.
6. Not enough portal content is match made. Many people have limited game time, they dont need spend a portion of it in LFG.
7. Make more strikes with strike specific loot.
8. Bugs, bugs and more bugs. I can’t pick up engrams from Hawthorne atm, they are greyed out. This is not too much of an issue since most are t1 trash anyway.
9. Too many pointless currencies, too many that depreciate each season and then I can’t delete.
10. Power up to loose my power when I get a new artefact - see point about power fantasy.
11. Boss stomp - are there new crutches you could design?
12. The game seems designed to keep me playing by slowing progression (some fixes here ack) or adding in difficulty (OK if I choose to but see point about power fantasy) when the best way to keep people playing is make it fun again. XP gains for the season pass are way too slow - that ok though, you have another currency I can earn or buy.
13. In D1 I bought into the idea that Eververse would mean more content, now all I see is all the best ideas are behind the extra paywall.
14. Destiny and D2 used to have content that was visually stunning.
15 “we hear you” do you? There’s a difference between hearing and listening.
The most important point. D2 is no longer fun, it’s a chore, a grind to no where but a reset at the end of the season.

1 ReplyI have somewhat of an issue with how #4 typically is framed. People put the blame on content creators - who, for obvious reasons, such as playing the game for a living, may have different preferences than the casual player with a 9 to 5 job. Shouldnt they be allowed to speak up on what they think are the issues? And at this point we cant even argue that Bungie is only listening to content creators - because no one is happy and streamers and youtubers are dropping like flies. Bungie is listening to no one.

However it means I have to play master level content to get new better gear. I can't do the content now at 200 LL, so if that gear is just random rolls most of it will not work with any build. I will essentially be in the same place with bad gear and no build. Sturggling and NOT having fun. Yes they make it sound like they are trying, but power deltas, and having to play the most difficult content just to progress, will never be fun or engaging to me.

Edited by TripleF73: 9/28/2025 6:25:41 PMThe most egregious thing that irks me about the whole “expansion” isn’t the lacklustre environment that is Kepler, nor the stupid “Kepler only” mechanics, it’s the Portal and the changes to the game. Think of all the development time that the portal has taken and is still taking as they -blam!--ing tinker about with it. That time could have been better spent making a couple of strikes, a couple of PvP maps and introducing explorer mode to a couple of dungeons and raids. This is what angers me the most. Bungie knows we hate grinding for power but will happily grind for weapons. That’s what most of us love chasing. Instead of reworking some of the best raids and dungeons and allowing them to drop weapons with updated perks even on explorer mode, they wasted all that time on the Portal. They really thought that we’d play that 💩 and not get bored. As far as I’m concerned Bungie deserves everything that is coming their way for the lack of vision and disregarding the vast majority of the players of this game.

3 RepliesHonestly, I blame Tyson Greed for this, as the director of the game he cares only for how much "engagement" has been given by players and not how the game was during Heresy. Was the game ever perfect? No, it was good before EoF but it wasn't perfect. The issue is there is no official communication from Tyson, no state of the games, no streams with him involved. Nothing. It's like tyson is a fake person. Also, Dmg has just become this sort of backtalker, demanding evidence for problems that people bring up, instead of actually listening. Attacking the fans with snarky comments isn't going to bring people in, you're not some social media manager for an American restaurant, you're a community manager for a game. It means you talk with the community, you'll get hate, you'll get vitriol and either you move past it or you break. Really the last thing the destiny community need is a "You're opinion, My choice" style of community management.

1 ReplyIMO they need to stop focusing heavily on endgame content it's literally oversaturated to the point the majority of the raids and dungeons have been abandoned even before EOF that's why "Rite of the Nine" was so successful for old and new players doing dungeons. Their main focus should be going towards QOL and new player experience in helping them reach endgame easier to keep the player base a float Top priorities *Revamp new player experience *Fix Portal *Tweak the grind *Return Vendors *Buff exotics and abilities *Balance Pvp Every now and then actually update old raids and dungeons gear and add only 2 new weapons to each to keep it fresh and nothing more.

Constructive feedback is crucial for guiding the game in a positive direction. If we unite, we can help bring Destiny back to its best. While criticism is vital, it is our shared joy and hope that truly sustain our community. I am here because the fun and friendships this game creates are worth fighting for. Let's work together to rediscover that joy. In my view, Bungie should prioritize: Fixing The Portal and reducing repetitive content loops Adjusting power differences to make progression more rewarding Enhancing raid accessibility and improving strike-specific loot Rebalancing PvP and abilities Improving quality-of-life updates and the new player experience

2 RepliesD1 raids are so fun to do. They weren't overly complicated like D2 raids. I looked forward to reset to do D1 raids all over again. D2 retro D1 raids are so bad I stopped playing raids entirely. I was hoping to buy back in, but I'm glad I didn't. So much wasted potential Destiny as a whole could have achieved without being overly greedy with Eververse. I would glady come back "if" all that content came back (including the red war), which I know will never happen but it's my only condition.

2 RepliesThe repetition the portal has brought me is the biggest disappointment, along with poor rewards , I miss the fun days we used to have, I just hope they can turn things around, unfortunately they never seem to acknowledge how bad things really are

You might notice though that two key things in it are a focus on streamers and what they need or want the game to be (the complete loss of raid engagement for anyone not playing the game for a living) and another would be a complete lack of making actual content. they have a handful of players left that will do nothing but chase a number. That is their player base now.

It's a very put together list of pain points...I have been playing from day one (I know everyone seems to say that but in this case it's true believe it or not) and the game is definitely not what it used to be...but neither am I ... Nostalgia is a potent lens to be blinded by and bias is a potent poison to be drunk on... destiny can be saved but it's going to take both sides to get their heads out of each other's keester and work together or everyone's going to lose....

In my opinion for a looter shooter the division 2 has the best loot economy I’ve seen in a long time. It’s not as big as destiny but almost everything can be recycled and can be used for a useful purpose. Not to mention it has about 30 gear sets to play with. The funniest thing to do is run a headhunter determined build with max expertise harvest and one shot everything. In that game you can be a bit too powerful.
