The thing I find ridiculous about this is that if you are smart with the modifiers you can easily run ultimate for A or even A+ rewards at a delta of 0 or even +10-20. So how can nerfing that by 30-50 levels to always force -30 be seen as making things easier. This is actually making things much harder for anyone smart enough to use the customise option. The problem is that bungo's match made modifier selection is always absolutely awful and makes the activity much harder than it needs to be. So while this change might just make the awful matchmade option a little easier it's actually a massive difficulty increase for anyone using the customise option.

Portal should not have been released with so little in it (add in raid encounters, more dungeon encounters, ALL THE STRIKES, etc) and Bungie needs to let us at least over level the Portal so we can have FUN in Destiny again and still earn Tier 5s. Currently the system feels like we are grinding a Power Level just for retention and to say "my number went up" while still being forced to play against insane deltas for the coveted Tier 5 loot. Not a dev but this feels like a really easy fix. Let us overpower the activity so we can be overpowered guardians with our overpowered loot in a looter shooter video game that is meant to be fun. The climb to this point can be difficult sure, put there needs to be a peak and a hill to coast down after the grind

I wonder if the change is more about avoiding an issue they foresee with the upcoming Festival of the Lost than it is about helping progression.

-30 is relaxed

Ultimate level isn't worth it unless you doing solo or have your own team. Starting with only 1 revive is just not good. You just wasted your time in fireteam opps matchmade because there is a good chance you won't finish and who wants to waste their time to get nothing.

if you're 500 power, you don't need to put on a single negative modifier in ultimate to get all tier 5 gear. At 451 just do grandmaster difficulty until around 470, then do ultimate. Not sure what else to say, I pretty much hit 500 from 450 passively doing iron banner and reclaim during arms week. But to be fair, this does make the proposed -30 at all times on ultimate seem annoying since I just got rid of that
