I still enjoy playing destiny for an hour or 2 when i have breaks throughout the day. Completely ignoring the portal and focusing on open world destinations scratches my itch to play.
Playing like this has highlighted how terrible the portal is. It's so out of place in a game like Destiny. It's shocking that it was implemented in the 1st place.
To my fellow guardians, ditch the portal. Send the message.

I avoid the Portal. I took the planetary tour to get XP for the reward pass.

The portal should have never be the main way to play. It should have been a node in the director to do extra activities for extra loot on top of what the director had to offer

It would’ve been great if the power grind wasn’t a thing, and if they actually added all the content to it, like all strikes, all missions, all dungeons and raids, etc.

I recently ran all of the planetary bounties on all three characters to speed up the progress on my Season Pass level. I found myself enjoying the game! I was just chilling and feeling powerful again. It was actually fun. This is to say, that I agree with you. Despite people bending over backwards defending the Portal, I think it’s the WORST decision Bungie has EVER made!

I use patrol spaces for rough testing gear (do I like this weapon or roll) before deciding if I want to keep it. Against Vex 'cause they're slower, Cabal 'cause they're tankier, against the rest 'cause they're quicker. Or for an easy space for bounties when I'm tired. Patrol spaces are not empty. Public events are typically well attended. Players come and go, but it's no rarer to be alone in the instance than it was pre-EoF. I ran a few games of Dares a few weeks ago. Filled up easily. Wellspring too. The "old locations" are still being used. People are still having fun in the worlds. I wish they'd make them worthwhile to play in. I keep a 200 level of gear in all of my slots for upgrading stuff pulled from vault. It'd be nice to be able to get gear for levelling or just materials farming. I don't mind if it isn't brought fully into tiers, but it'd be nice to be able to get some use out of it beyond glimmer.

Yep. Did a couple of hours on the Moon using old weapons and exotic armor with power level around 265. Trashed the Ogres, blew up the Knights, chased down the Pike Gang and stole their lunch. Felt good to be powerful for a change. Screw the Port Hole.

That uninstall button sure is looking mighty clickable right about now. ;)

Agree 100%. I spend more time just helping new lights, running around planets, or even just playing sorrows harbor for a bit. The portal feels like work, and half of it has issues. I don’t do Pinnacle Ops anymore because I don’t even know which ones are even playable (half the time I run one and it kicks us to orbit for no reason, or the timers are broken, or blights kill you in 1 hit… etc). It’s impossible in the current games state to have fun, and feel productive.

Already doing it pal. Im happy patrolling the Cosmo or Europa, or coming off and playing other games.

I enjoy the portal, but I'm glad you're prioritizing what's fun to you over chasing a number. If more people thought like you, they wouldn't constantly be so upset.

If I thought boycotting the portal would work I would, truly I would, but Bungie decided they like the portal therefore we like the portal, and unless they have some serious incentive to get rid of the portal (I doubt this will happen) then nothing will change, although boycotting it will be fun since it means we can play NFs again lol
