Games are supposed to be FUN.

Dear Bungo, Do you play your game? I do not think you do. The way you have chosen to progress and structure it are not conducive to enjoyment for players. I have some stuff listed below. Please give it a read. My 3000hrs+ in your game have shown me what's up and I am not impressed... but you can fix it if you care to. 1) The Portal: This whole structure/mechanic is a horrible idea that takes what would otherwise be an expansive and interesting game world, and collapses it into a mess of menus and fractured old content that makes no sense chronologically or canonically. Instead of the portal, you should have revamped the planets themselves with either new or updated activities and rewards that you have already delivered in the past. Give players reasons to go and enjoy them and activities on them. Connect us to the world you are presenting instead of collapsing it down to nothing for your own ease of delivery and maintenance of content. Mechanically, if you present a thing that's a super easy content cycle solution for you as Devs, it will likely smack of an intense lack of effort and zero care to the players, who give you a great deal of their time/attention/money. A thought to consider moving forward. 2) Tiered Loot: Either make everything tiered or remove the concept entirely from the game. Why continue to deliver rewards of old gear that can't be enhanced at all anymore for any activity? What is the point for players to engage with this content if the old gear is equivalent to trash that can't even be broken down into reasonable rewards? Everything in the game that is not tiered has been rendered entirely useless by tiered gear. If you take the time to make every piece of gear tiered it will go a long way towards helping players enjoy things they've held onto for years that they like. Bit late for me as I blew up my entire vault for resources... but hey. 3) Resource Costs: What you have done here is stupid. I don't know how else to say it. Make it easier to obtain common resources like cores and glimmer, or drastically reduce the cost of upgrading armor and weapons. It is not fun to find a thing you want, then grind for another hour just to upgrade it to see if it works with your build/stats because you need the same resources for every damn thing in insane quantities. If you actually played your game you would know how annoying/upsetting it is to be endlessly core/glimmer starved and unable to do things to or with the gear you've earned. 4) Progression Past 400: Most players either lack the ability or simply do not want to sweat out pickup grandmaster content for tiny progression crumbs and the hope of gear that isn't guaranteed. All activities should provide pathways to progression. Save the small marginal gains for easier content that people can chill out and play, still progressing as they do so, while reserving bigger progress jumps and better loot for more difficult activities and events. Not everyone in your game's community is a complete and utter sweat. Most, in fact, are not. Catering the entire game to sweats will destroy the entire community and game over time. 5) The Little Details Matter: In the current reclaim activity, you are forced to load 4 times per play into new zones. Each of these loads is framed by a single ship in the gameworld. Why are the other fireteam ships absent? Why is it just a black loading screen and not a cool landing/hero shot animation? These things matter and help deliver tone and feel to an otherwise bland activity. The touches make the piece and if you want people to care you have to show them cool stuff. A series of sterile game zones with bland npcs standing around that you warp between with black loading screens is a joke in 2025. 6) Games Should Be Fun: Play test your game. Play test it often. If your devs aren't actively putting hours in what are they actually doing? How can they fine tune a thing they do not feel the nuances of? It's more than just an excel spreadsheet and you know it. Play the game. If it doesn't feel fun (currently the case) then look to the above points for references on how to fix that. All of this basically boils down to two specific things, one of which I keep repeating that is the header to this current point, the other being that you must put more effort into respecting the time of your player base. There are other games. You are already feeling the pinch of your decisions' consequences. If you don't change course, it will worsen. That's my 2cents. Also, Marathon is a trash project that should be abandoned entirely. Why you didn't spend those resources making Destiny 3 I will never understand.
