The Spirit in Me Left When I Tried to Solo Vesper's Host

No. Forget flawless, I'm not going to touch that with solo anything. That Servitor is just... The first damage phase, I did about a 10th of its health. Probably normal. The second one... Every Servitor just teleported every direction. And for a 10-second damage phase after a tedious setting up... Just no. I'm not a fan of RNG damage phases that last 10 seconds. Even Ghosts of the Deep wasn't that awful. I haven't even played the Sundered Doctrine dungeon before. If it's worse there, then I question the development paths that dungeons are taking.

  • I soloed Spire a few days before Lightfall dropped, and that showed me that 'Never again' was the correct option. It took [b]nine[/b] damage phases to kill the Harpy, and one wrong step (or, as a Warlock main, 'The Architects refuse to acknowledge your second tap of the space bar, so no float for you') means starting the whole fight again. And especially as Bungo still refuse to give the Warlock, the f***ing [b]space magic focused class[/b] a Super that does reasopnable damage..... And before people claim I'm just another lost patrol blueberry; I do Master Raids/Dungeons, GMs, and all other endgame content; I run the Legendary Campaign solo at launch, every launch. Solo Dungeons aren't so much excessively hard, as they are excessively tedious and insufficiently enjoyable. Every Season beyond the first after Guardian Ranks have launched, I have been capped at GR 10, because I refuse to solo the latest Dungeon (and usually CBA to Gild Conq; I've done most of those GMs enough times to be thoroughly bored by them).

    • Sadly they specifically nerfed both some of the better strategies like ignition chaining and the number of boss servitors which make it harder to do damage since you get less hits off per AOE attack.

    • My solo flawless run was unexpected. I had every intention to solo it but when I finally beat the final boss, I realized that I also did it flawless. It took me about 25 DPS phases because I was taking it insanely slow but it worked haha.

    • I do agree. I wouldn't do it, not because it was very hard but because I don't have patience and time to run 2-3hrs dungeon. Funny sword and sturm bug came tho. I had to do mechanics like normally, which was very fun, had to keep myself alive BUT I did not have to suffer setting up 8 dmg phases because dungeon boss has more HP than some RAID bosses.

    • You only have a few options, wardcliff with something to reload like the hunter boots or warlock boots, or stasis titan.

    • This is actually an easy 2-3 phase encounter solo but only if you've the right loadout. Behemoth titan works wonders, always a consistent solo 2 phase. Else, use area damage weapons and supers. Tether works great, so does nova bomb. Wardcliff coil, colony, grenade launchers, etc. also work well. Consecration also works well. If you're using single damage weapons, it'll likely take 10 phases if not more.

      • Ya VH can be a pain in the butt, but I found SD boring as hell, it’s the first dungeon I haven’t bothered to solo flawless because it’s so damn tedious I can’t be bothered.

          • I will never understand Bungie's infatuation with making excessively high health encounters with short damage windows, particularly when it's not even the final boss. Every Dungeon up to Vesper's Host has been increasingly tiresome to Solo Flawless (with a few exceptions) to the point that every attempt I ran on Vesper's Host typically ran out of steam at the Servitor encounter. Completing a Solo Flawless Dungeon is absolutely a marathon rather than a sprint, however with each iteration it seems that Bungie increases not with an extra mile or two but rather exponentially by doubling the distance needed. So my days of doing those were over as of the last DLC. They are fine with 2-3 other players, though still fairly long compared to what they once were as that's the route that Bungie decided to go with.

          • Vesper's host is the most unbalanced dungeon they did between mechanics and bosses health pools. Sundered doctrine is better, 1st step is mechanics and it's pretty straight forward, final boss has tons of health and can be annoying but it's 10 times better than the Puppetter, 2nd step is obnioux both because boss has a ŝĥïtton of health, both because if you're not fast to set the mechanic right, the arena becomes a sea of ads.
