Nothing outside of the portal is relevant anymore, yet the portal covers only very little activities.
None of the old weapons and gears are useful.
Grind is pointless, say you get all the tier 5s you wanted, then what? Do I go play a raid or dungeon? What for? When the loot is irrelevant
Well, if your goal was to kill the game and fun all together, congratulations. You’ve done it

That's exactly it. It doesn't feel like anything is going anywhere anymore. Once that crept in, I lost interest. Play portal to earn loot to just play more portal. The same portal played to get the loot I already have... it's either an unfinished system or it's intentional, whatever the case, its awful.
-
Did you know Bungie released a new exiticing FPS? Destiny 2: Portal Edition It's freaking boring as bat crap.

The grind needs to be for the weapons and armour, it should have been an easy grind for power to get drops for tier 5 gear. Look back when we have cool weapons we all grinded to get the god rolls and honestly with the new armour I think we wouldn't mind doing that grind to get the god rolls for it, look how many players want more vault space because the have a million rolls of everything. Come on Bungie look at your player base and give us what we want a fun game and a grind we want, the power grind has never been popular.
-
They said that we were all bored as seasons followed the same pattern every release. They fixed it by putting everything into The Portal. Which is even more copy/paste identikit (and with even less content) than the old seasonal stuff it replaces. Agree on the Tier 5 chase, why bother? There is no content to use it in as everything outside of The Portal has been soft sunset. Way to go Bungie.

Edited by Toots238857: 9/19/2025 12:06:21 PMThey killed 90%, yes indeed. And THEN have the nerve to add that 90% to Eververse. For profit. After all the things players paid for, that's been sunset....this is the ultimate slap in the face. Sadly they only care about things when they get caught.
-
Gambit, Strikes, GM's, Dungeon's, and Raids basically sunset. My guess is it was to reduce maintenance but they made the fun core aspects of the game obsolete, I was honesty surprised that they kept Crucible and Trials in the Portal. Portal also got rid of Pathfinder and Vendor rewards, a key element to earn decent gear outside of season pass. It feels bad, I definitely don't play as long or as much anymore, the funny glitches have been the most fun I have had since I completed EOF for all three characters.
-
No one is excited for the Epic Raid today.
-
If you take into account how they deleted things to cover their asses in the lawsuit , all the previous sunsets and nothing being relevant anymore it's practically closer to 99 %.

Edited by Mark, Scholar of Stars: 9/19/2025 1:45:44 PMBungie now has less to maintain. I think that was the goal. They lost one-third of their workforce, according to Wikipedia. Probably even more. They're working on Marathon, and they have to maintain their co-development with NetEase of Destiny: Rising. "I'm thrilled to be part of Destiny Rising from the beginning and to see it all coming together beautifully. Check out the latest trailer!" - Peter Olofsson Hermanrud Art Director at Bungie Working on Destiny Rising Bungie lost his autonomy. The company will be integrated into PlayStation Studios. I think they will prioritize Marathon even more in 2026, when it will be released, over Destiny 2. I'm sure there are still talented developers (workers). But they are just not enough, numerically, to make a difference. Plus, the QA team was dismissed, which makes work even harder for them. Since the "Beyond Light" DLC, the game has been in a strange place. The Destiny Content Vault, Sunsetting... Catarina Macedo and Joe Blackburn tried to fix what's possible, but look at their "legacy" today. It's gone. Both left the studio on their own. It's obvious they had their reasons. Destiny 2 will not come back in its full strength. The management made so many mistakes. The brand is heavily damaged. No one at Bungie can "sell" a success of Destiny 2 to Sony for further support. It doesn't look good, and I doubt, judging by Bungie's history in leadership, Marathon won't be successful either. Edit:...

Exactly. I did the 450 grind 2 months ago. And once i reached it...i realized...there was nothing else after. Only thing that changed after my 1200 solo ops runs was...that i could keep doing those again... We need something to do after finishing the dumb leveling. Not just "well gg you are lvl max, bye now see ya when we reset it so you can do it again"

Bungie: Marathon or bust
-
Someone on here made a comment/theorized a couple of months ago that Edge of Fate was originally supposed to be an "end of life" update for Destiny 2 while Bungie expected all of the players to move over to Marathon. The Marathon drama/delay really threw a wrench in the works and they had to scramble to put something together. I honestly feel like that is true the more time goes by. They basically sunset most of the game and are in low maintenance mode almost as if they want the game to die. It's kind of funny that the steam numbers are already back down to their low prior to the expansion releasing. Bungie has always been the true killer of this game.
-
No.. you're wrong.. Eververse is updated and working as intended.. Now throw that wallet at the screen and buy something. -Bungie ( 99.9% likely )
-
What, you don't like playing fireteam ops, or solo ops, or fireteam ops, or solo ops?
-
Pssst... don't tell any one... but this was their plan all along mate. If them morons that dare call them self developer leave BungLe no unemployment benefits for them... If Sony dissolves the company however.... You see where this is going right?
-
Edited by Dragokin: 9/19/2025 12:17:51 PMIt's funny... grind is to long... and everyone complains... they shorten the grind... everyone runs out of things to do... everyone complains... The rewards are not enough... Everyone complains... They multiply loot drops... Everyone farms perfect guns in a week... There's nothing to hunt for... Everyone complains... And it's no wonder why the game is failing... The players are just as if not more greedy than the company is... Game development is not magic it costs time and thousands of man hours and technical knowledge...all so a bunch of whining children with no self control can complain about being bored after getting exactly what they wanted....
-
I only played to maintain friendships with players I met. We all got borderlands so now we are on that. As far as I’m concerned this game is a wash.
-
Son you're going to play MARATHON?
-
Bungo should have stuck with a yearly expansion, these smaller six month dlcs will be the end of them.
-
So if I play the game like a normal person and not a cracked out streamer or gambling addict I'll have plenty to do until the next expansion... Got it...

Edited by Zonepatrol: 9/19/2025 2:09:30 PMThe assessment is valid. The problem I see here is a lack of consistency in choice. Portal is a must if you want new gear, light level improvements, task completion, extra drops, or higher tier gear. Patrols, world events, dungeons, old raids, and others have many of the enemy changes but drop any possibility of general improvement to your character. The other major problem is Bungie making changes that eliminate unique aspects of the event. With vendor based events we had a refreshing change of pace where you visit different areas complete unique tasks get unique gear. With portal all unique tasks have been eliminated, no changes to game mode, and gear is now flavor of the month.
-
Edited by iCypher: 9/19/2025 10:20:17 PMAll the changes should have been done in a new game called destiny 3…..where for some strange reason another boating accident happened and the old tower was destroyed with all our old gear so we have to restart. But hey we got drang and mida mini tool for like what the 4th time now? Imagine a game company model of removing the content for like 5 seasons and then reselling it again to you.
-
After you hit 450 plus . you have to wait for renegades . that was the point behind major grind ,they never intended for you to burn it down months before . so they added a bigger number 550 . for those that want something to do. otherwise play for fun now and then. or play something else until the new content.

D2 and like other games are just hamster wheels. Nothing else companies dont care about their player base as long there is revenue they will do whatever they like
