This is the stupidest and most ill conceived modifier.
There is no reason for this. It ruins every single activity in which rears its moronic face.
Just stop it.

Edited by ABADDON_WOLFFE: 9/15/2025 4:32:22 PMThat one and i don't know the name of it but you receive more damage the more kills you get. They must be high on fen*anill or something. No sane person would add such modifiers.

I just tried my 1st ash & iron event, bored out of my skull for 20 mins, 1 guy leaves (probably bored too), get the boss fight & the other guys dies & leaves - so I'm alone & get boss to half health, then there's like 300 adds & 15 symbol puzzles, eventually I get tagged by something & get the volatile thing, I die because I'm alone - no respawn, it just ends, no loot, nothing, 30 mins. Who TF thinks this is fun. Awful company
-
Agreed. Worst ever. Bungie, please abolish volatile shield trade off, along with Haste, Avant Garde and Glass Cannon.
-
While we’re at it how about short circuit too. Let’s just do away with the stupid modifiers.
-
I haven't experienced this modifier as I quit before it was implemented so I can't reasonably comment on such, but it does sound horrible from the explanations and complaints. In all honesty, Bungie has been going overtime making annoying modifiers that are automatically applied to any activity, despite their advertised Portal being able to choose which modifiers you have on. Of course, there always has to be some fine print where Bungie wants to irritate their players rather than making the game enjoyable unless the player specifically chooses to add some extra "training weights."
-
I think it’s being removed with the patch today but I could be wrong.
-
that and oscillation just abysmal
-
Recommend rocking Loreley Splendor helm on titan. Pops your class ability to heal a soon as those shields break to heal (no inattentive teammate required). Since the shield is extra tanky, it should be ready to go next time you need it. Too bad out isn't featured gear though.

Edited by OBI-SWEDE KENOBI: 9/15/2025 1:48:01 AMMost moronic modifier. Not doing any activities with it turned on. Get rid of slow and small also.
-
For any matchmade activities, just get rid of all modifiers. Set combatant power at certain deltas and let players play. Have everything else as options for customization. Not rocket science.
-
Saving teammates for them to walk past you to get more DPS on the boss while their buffs are up… Means I walk away from them as they try to reach me and make up their death on the next champion. It’s weird how at a certain point you become pure champion slayer for revives. (Also seems on higher difficulties you can get revives from the chests)
-
Yup I see it and I instantly log off lol
-
Yep not starting any Fireteam activity with that present.
-
this modifier, by itself, has genuinely made me stop playing almost any matchmade activities because it is so infuriating. It just feels like the cherry on top of this godawful modifier system, that makes it so that any progress in your power grind or the game as a whole requires you to stack on 2-4 debuffs and get -blam!- in the -blam!- with a 30+ power delta while under a timer with limited revives and champions. what happened to just, loading into a strike or a gambit match?
-
I’m seriously considering deleting the game after going into a reclaim mission and realizing that mod was active. It’s absolute trash.
-
Will never happen all the Streamers love it
-
Yes that one is just awefull. And so are a few others like glass canon, screebs spawning… I run a lot of melee builds and I cannot count the number of time I died not knowing why because things just explode everywhere.
-
It’s terrible with a fireteam and even worse solo.
-
I hate this modifier when I see no team mates and if I can I pop my super to save me

Edited by Obi-Juan: 9/14/2025 9:40:49 PMBUNGIE, How to make Volatile more bearable: The moment a player goes volatile, spawn 2 orbs of power near them. Or just spawn SOMETHING that they can crawl to to heal themselves. No i'm not talking about orbs they spawned before they went volatile. I'm talking about specifically spawning something to heal with, the moment they go volatile. A minigame of sorts that allows them to get back to life if a teammate isn't nearby.
-
Edited by Shatterday: 9/14/2025 9:07:54 PMGood thing you can walk over an* orb to heal yourself... cuz teammates definitely don't Edit - i will say tho... my buddy clutched a wipe by reviving us while his shield was busted

I've wondered if that is still active if you're not actually using the subclass it specifies? Like it says if you're using an arc subclass, you take more damage, but do you still get that even if you're not?
