Comp weapon drop rate

The drop rates for the new hand cannon are abysmal. I get wanting to make the drops feel rare but this just feels like a waste of time. Since getting my original drop after my 7 placement matches, I haven't seen another. I've wasted hours just going through the grind and don't get anything in return. Bungie, please either increase the drop rate or bring back the previous system of turning in a select amount of engrams per week. I'm a veteran of this game and have been playing since 2014, so I get wanting people to grind for rare items, but keep that to raids. When its a simple legendary weapon with random rolls, reward people with loot and keep them hooked on the repetition.

  • I got the PvE godroll and pretty much quit comp. I don't get too many of the handcannon drops but I hope you get the one you want in your next match.

  • It drops 20% less in lower ranks, on top of your in-game score. I’ll explain: At the end of each game, you get a C/B/A+ rank. This rank determines how well you did in that match. The weapon will only drop from games where you score B+ or higher. At that point, your rank percentage comes into play. For example: let’s say you win 50% of your games. Out of those wins, about 75% of the time you earn a B+ score or higher. So, if you play 16 games and win about half (8 games), around 6 of those wins will qualify with a B+ or higher score. Now, let’s assume you’re in Platinum rank (which gives a 25% drop chance). That means you’ll end up with about 1–2 drops of the hand cannon. So… yeah, Bungie doesn’t seem to like PvP players, because this works out to the same drop chance as a Prime Engram. With 16 games at ~10 minutes each, plus another ~10 minutes of matchmaking per game, that’s about 5 and a half hours of playtime for just 1–2 drops.
