Bungie, you've lost your way and I don't know if there is a way to come back from this. Considering that I haven't played in a month and a half, I think I'm done. While I was away, I was playing RoboCop and getting into CyberPunk 2077. You know, having fun. After playing Destiny: Rising it brought up some real disdain that I have for you as a company. Why is all the fun stuff that we wanted not in your game but it's in Destiny: Rising? Sometimes, I just want to fish and catch a gun or two. It's that simple, really. Cheaters are still running rampant in your game and have been for literal years. The last time I was in PVP it felt unplayable. Are you actively trying to kill your game or do you just not care? Your moto use to be "We make games that we want to play." Things have definitely changed since then.
Not only did you guys not listen to your community, you decided to work on something that your fanbase didn't ask for. AND on top of that, you were caught stealing ideas/artwork AGAIN! You could have just worked on Destiny 3 with Unreal Engine 5.6, but no. Ya'll chose to -blam!- off and make something no one asked for. And of course it was a -blam!- show.
I've spent around $3-400 in expansions and season pass's from the very beginning of D2. Almost all of that content that I payed for is not playable and in some cases lost entirely (Red War) due to the inability of Bungie to come up with a reasonable plan that is respectful to their community. Find a way to expand your game. If it means what it means, then I guess it is what it is. You might have to rebuild some systems to make it happen. Oh well. Also, for you to introduce a completely new system and not provide a way to upgrade old gear is a slap in the face to everyone and their time. Some people, including me, have grinded for literally years to get all of our stuff. This is in between a job, working on cars/ our house, taking care of our kids, taking care of our parents, taking care of siblings (if this is your role), going to school if you're still in it, and just life in general. The time that I do spend playing your game better not be a waste of time. But instead, now it's all just useless? That's just fantastic... awesome...
NetEase is literally dunking on ya'll right now and I'm having a blast off of the $20 total that I've spent.
I've included a video and a picture, for your convenience, in case you didn't have basic context clues. (I don't think you do) You're Spiderman, if you didn't guess correctly. vvv

Good luck saving your game. I won't be a part of it anymore.

They don't give a fUUUUUUUUUUUUU. they are killing their game cause they lost it to Sony. Sony better fire everyone in the studio too lol

I haven't played in weeks, and am not coming back. BungLe deserves to fail and I'm laughing about it. Sucks they had to absolutely ruin Destiny, but here we are. BungLe is a company of liars, virtue signalers, and thieves. Period.

They are killing D2 on purpose because they are probably losing money. It’s the only logical explanation

Edited by xMrMayhem01x: 9/6/2025 3:16:27 PMWell said. I hit that point last night; got home loaded in and just realized I no longer enjoyed the game. I uninstalled it shortly after. I can no longer support such a horrible studio! I’m an avid Cyberpunk player, fantastic game. Going to go back and play Oblivion too at some point! The only way players can drive change in Destiny 2 is to stop playing. Clearly giving feedback is not working. When I think of all the TWID posts where the devs start by saying “We hear you….” when they clearly don’t. The newest sandbox tuning makes zero sense!! With so many underutilized exotics out there, they decide to nerf the ones worth using instead of buffing the ones that are not used. The decision makers at Bungle Studios are absolutely pathetic! Nerfing fun and buffing garbage are what they do best these days!!!

Edited by Discovery: 9/6/2025 2:32:35 PMProbably a combination of bad leadership and game designers that only listens to YouTubers and thus lack a connection to the larger player base. The designers also probably had too much power in making decisions. Combine that with a low budget with fewer people involved in making Destiny, where the game needs to shallow out, having a little story but needing cuts on everything else. Slap on a new user interface, add some coding time on implementing tiers in order to be able to save coding time in the future by making old gear near useless and thus save time and money in the future by not needing to balance old gear. Add a bunch of repetitive mechanics to add the time the players need to stay in the game to complete anything, and have more timers and make the game grindier beyond madness. Sounds fun, right!?

I agree with your venting and the points you made. Bungie are clueless, rudderless and panicked by Marathon’s continued ridicule and the contempt thrown in its direction. I think I repeated some of your points in my rant, https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/264966659/0/0 this was inspired by your post and a power ballad about the new sandbox changes too.

Edited by SirEman80: 9/7/2025 9:25:04 PMAt least be intelligent when you rant/vent. Destiny: Rising was made by a completely different company than Bungie. They just licensed the IP to them. But it goes to show what sow fresh eyes and minds can do. I’ve been a huge fan of Destiny over the years, even when other people were criticizing seasonal content and cadence and all that stuff… the game has always given me fun with friends, new stories with characters I’ve come to enjoy interacting with and learning about and an awesome world that felt deep and ever expanding… UNTIL NOW. At the end of Heresy, the game was in a good place. The armor changes in the Edge of Fate were the missing piece of loot value and chase, the tier system looked interesting, and the story looked promising. At the end of the campaign, I was interested in seeing where the story continues. Now, seven weeks later and Destiny feels smaller and shallower by a huge margin. I thought the Portal was going to be a funneling screen to give new and old players guidance to find the weekly rotators, seasonal activities, events, etc and instead… Bungie decided to make 80% of the game worthless to play outside of filling collections. It has been the worst change Bungie has ever made to the game… period, end of story. Being able to customize an experience to challenge and reward a player sounds good on paper, but the execution is so frustrating and unrewarding that it makes even longtime fans like myself just not want to engage. THE LACK OF AND SEASONAL STORY AND ACTIVITY CONTENT HAS SHONE HOW MUCH OF A PILLAR OF THE DESTINY EXPERIENCE IT WAS. I can’t think of any season in Destiny history where I’ve felt this little incentive to play. I’m 420 and the only reason I’m that high was because Solstice was actually good for the first time in years and rewarded actually playing the content. I’ve got “bonus drops” at nearly every window in the portal and I don’t care because they can’t do anything for me. The game has become a soulless and lifeless husk of what it was just a few weeks ago. I’ve never had a problem reaching the pinnacle cap in any season whatsoever, even seasons like worthy where the activity was a public event… and it’s sad to see such little effort shone to publicly acknowledge the shortcomings of the current state of the game. And yes I read the twab every week and follow multiple social outlets that Bungie uses… and I haven’t seen any evidence that they are actually listening to player feedback. Not that they are just implementing things in a way I don’t understand, it actively looks like they are changing things in such a way to drive players from the game.

For the average D2 player, the inherent difficulty of the game appears to be increasing each year. This consumes more and more of a player's time. However, there are a number of players who take this as a challenge. I have noticed quite a few players at Guardian rank 9, whose exceptional talent has propelled them from rank 2 to 9 in a matter of two months. These guys or gals are crushing players with slow reflexes (like me) in Crucible, especially Heavy Metal. If Bungie caters to the 9's, and ignores those below rank 6, then they have made their business decision. Good luck trying to survive in a gaming universe that is tailored to an average GTA VI player.

Just saw this post after making a very similar worded one. Seeing basic things in Destiny Rising and meanwhile we don't have a single fun activity to chill out in in the main game. Destiny is just a job now. Theres no fun in the videogame unless you go out of your way to make it fun by doing ranDIM loadouts, etc.

The problem is that they DO listen to the community. The reason Destiny was good in the past was that they did make a game they wanted to play, and I do want to play a game that they want to make, not the community, not YouTube people.

1000% THIS! 👆🏻

Ahhhhh, couldn't have said it any better than that. For me...and I'm going to step out there. The developers lack innovation/creativity (example: constant redskins, lack of exotic armor/weapons synergy, no creativity on armor set visually). The inability to maintain the lore/storyline and introduce concepts that just don't synergisticall grow with the game. It's like a constant "hell marries" praying one will eventually rejuvenate the game. In my opinion Bungie wasted 5yrs., building other games that aren't worth the player bases time (marathon and destiny rising). Like WTF would i pay for a mobile version of Destiny, when the console version is just disappointing? It's time to reevaluate your leadership, your developers focus/innovation/creativity and it's time to finally listen to your players and not just your content lovers....who are all motivated by $$$.
