So, what's the logic behind unstable core?

We had upgrade modules that works just fine and now we have unstable cores which does basically the same but now require more grind to upgrade just once and they also have expiry date compared to upgrade modules that are permanent. And to make things more questionable, upgrade modules are still in the game so what's the logic here? Why bloat the game with unnecessary things that are just temporary? Just to ensure everyone does the grind from scratch after a time period? Just a hamster wheel that goes nowhere?

  • Im not sure if others have said this but unstable cores are just purple shards with a diff color. They got rid of them to make glimmer "more meaningful" but then in this new expansion they just go straight back to the same mechanic? Its likely exactly what you said, to ensure players feel "motivated" for the grind. Gatta get the money if you want to buy the upgrade. To put the D1 vet on the same page as the day 1 newbie. Its bad... just bad.
