Some Pre-EoF exotic armors that are marked as "featured gear" do not gain any of the benefits
I decrypted an exotic engram which turned into the updated version of Peregrine Greaves. That was when I noticed that the new version had the featured gear icon while my original and better stats version from pre EoF didn't.
When I equipped my older version I noticed it lost some of my benefits
