Just to be clear. I will not pay extra to Infuse my weapons with seasonal materials. Unstable cores are an awful idea.

So, I just got my first 200+ drop (201+ actually.) Initially I was excited, but then I quickly realized that I don't have any of said cores needed to Infuse my weapons. Then the cascade if consequences hit me. First, I can't actually do anything with my new weapons besides delete them, or delete something out of my vault to keep the new weapon, and my postmaster will overflow very quickly. But, I have no cores! Second, oh, ok the cores are in my season pass, ok. Wait what?! The cores are in my season pass!? So I am paying for the cores that I need to Infuse the weapons? I'm paying to have to Infuse weapons? Didn't I already pay for this in my digital deluxe edition? I better watch a video... Third; wait, what, you mean it could take hundreds of cores to infuse a single piece of armor. I have zero, zip, zilch, none. How many are there in the season pass? Doesn't seem like enough, but I paid for some, there's some in the paid pass... The bottom line. This feels like a huge change in game monetization that is outside the longstanding gameplay loop. Fair warning; paying to level weapons, is pay to win, and if this is the direction that Bungie is taking; I quit. Seriously, tell me I'm wrong or I'm done. Sincerely, lover of the game, Björn P.s. Bungie, in my opinion, you should fire whoever came up with this idea. Awful.

You just have to keep those items somewhere in your character's inventory/vault (does not have to be equipped) and you'll get drops as if they're contributing to your overall Power. Then dismantle the lower Power gear at 200+ to get Unstable Cores from it. That said, it's a dumb system meant to punish Veteran players for having the means to acquire a mountain's worth of Upgrade Modules in order to "skip ahead" of the newer players in the level grind like in the past. On top of that, any power over 200 is temporary and all cores gained are lost every 6 months in order to force a regrind. Bungie was already bad about it, but we've entered Maximum Disrespect of Player Time/Investment. If you're not addicted to the gunplay, the time to get out is now.

  • It appears that the ENTIRE game since the expansion is a horrific experience.

    • I love how it also says “unstable cores may be used to temporarily increase the power of your gear”. So you pay for the materials to infuse and then they go back to 200 again next season and you have to pay again. Lovely.

        • And why do I need to use unstable core when I wanted to infuse an identical exotic gear into my better rolled stats? It used to be just glimmers and a few enhancement cores.

        • Why are people having so much trouble with unstable cores? I have over 120k of them currently. And just keep getting more. I get them faster than I can use them.

          • It will rain unstable cores once you start pushing through 200. The vast of majority gear is garbage outside pinnacle activities.

And that will only become more true the more you level and the more you settle into a build. You’re not 200 yet, so they don’t drop and they aren’t able to be used.

            • You get Unstable Cores by dismantling 201+ drops.
