Portal (at least when I heard about it back then) was supposed to be there for players to get right into the action without needing to find a location and such. Now it's a glorified mobile home screen and the Director is desaturated and thrown to the back as if Bungie wants to give players more of a reason for them to believe they'll be taking away content. Mind you, I've been wanting a portal like system in for a while for when I only have a game or two in me to do. But this is basically trying to replace the Director, as if symbolizing that there's no more adventures, no more exploration. Just mindless grinding in a single activity because Bungie for some reason gave us little in the way for Portal mission. Seriously, I have been doing Empire Hunts for the past few days. The moment I don't get an Empire Hunt I literally cry tears of joy. I won't bring up the grind and the difficulty because it seems like the rest of the community agrees Bungie NEEDS to take a step back and re-examine what they did. Tiers aren't the worse, though I wish it was 3 tiers and not 5. I like customization for enemies on missions though I was really hoping for a "horde" option that increased the number of enemies. Overall, I just think Portal should be the second page, not the Director. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if Bungie says something like "[b]With how the game has been going, less and less players have been using the Director. With this we think it's time to finally Vault it[/b]" even though no one is choosing to not use it and in fact I've seen many people asking for it to be brought to the forefront again for grinding. The Director has been around since the beginning, the worlds in front of you saying here's this to explore and do. To see activities confined to this weird instant action playlist while making anything outside of it not provide anywhere close to levels portal gives, feels like writing on the walls in a way.
