I’m just going to shoot the -blam!- with yall. It’s going to be lengthy, but I’d rather have a “conversation” and find like-minded people than to just throw -blam!- at the wall and see what sticks. This isn't going to happen over night, but it can happen if there are others in the same boat. So this will be lengthy, BUT here is a [b]TLDR for those that don’t want the novel: I’m looking for guardians that are going to be consistently active in the evenings and/or on the weekends in US time zones. I’m looking for guardians that want to make friends, are going to play together, and actually enjoy the game. I will also be looking for guardians that might be interesting in helping lead aspects of the game that I don’t have interest in or time for.[/b] If that got your interest, here’s the novel. What I'm looking for in clan mates: [b]-Be Active- [/b] [spoiler]I don't expect everyone to be on every day. That's unrealistic; however, as we grow, I want people to feel confident that the number of people they see in the clan accurately reflects their likelihood to have people to play with. Most of us don't care for the large multi-network clans, but in my opinion, I'd argue that "normal" size clans with half their people not playing are just as bad.[/spoiler] [b]-US Time Zones (evenings and weekends)-[/b] [spoiler]Continuing off the "Being Active" point, gathering people that are going to be on at the same time makes sense to me. My goal is to have people active for group play in the time range between 5PM and 12AM Eastern Time. Again, I'm not looking for every day. I'm not looking for all 7 hours. But it will be easier to coordinate group activities if the majority of the clan is on at the same time and can have a general expectation of when things will be scheduled.[/spoiler] [b]-Check the Negativity and Toxicity at the Door-[/b] [spoiler]We all know that Bungie isn’t perfect. Destiny isn’t perfect. Neither have been anywhere near close in the last 10 years. HOWEVER, I want to surround myself with people that still enjoy the game regardless. There’s no issues with conversation discussing changes you’d like to see or things you’d like added, but when it turns into you constantly reminding everyone how much you hate the game, it might be time to uninstall and take a break.[/spoiler] [b]-My Personal Goal is Raiding-[/b] [spoiler]As we grow, I anticipate having other people/admins/sherpas to help navigate aspects of the game that I’m not really interested in or that I simply don’t have time to invest in. My favorite part of the game has always been raiding. Not just getting the clears but actually helping people do the content that they’re usually excluded from. In this clan, anyone who is willing to learn, take loadout advice (because yes it matters to a degree), and put in the time is going to be more than welcome to raid. There will never be a situation where you will be excluded because you don’t have X weapon or Y stats, but you also have to be open to suggestions if we ‘re not getting through damage phases. It’s all a learning process and I’m willing to teach those willing to learn.[/spoiler] [b]-Adding Leadership-[/b] [spoiler]As I stated above, there are aspects of the game that I have no interest in – namely PvP and Grandmasters. I don’t want to limit this clan to being a “Raiding Only” clan, so if there are an prospective people out there that are decent at PvP but aren’t toxic, I’d gladly have a discussion about having you help with the clan. Some other areas of “specialization” that people have interest in that I wouldn’t mind having admins for would be things like Grandmasters. Possibly someone really gung-ho on triumphs/seals/challenge completions. Possibly someone specific to Trials. There could be others eventually, but we’ll adapt to the needs of the clan as we grow.[/spoiler] [b]-Size Matters-[/b] [spoiler]I am looking to keep this clan between 30 and 60 members depending upon the frequency of how active everyone is. If we get 30 to 40 people that are on every day and we’re able to get all our goals accomplished then we’ll stop there. If we have a handful of people that are only on once or twice a week, or on the weekends, then we’ll move closer to 60 to ensure goals are being met for everyone. The point is quality, not quantity.[/spoiler] [b]-Discord, Socialization, Mics-[/b] [spoiler]All of this will be required. I am well versed in Discord, I just haven’t taken the time to set up a fancy server yet. It will be a work in process as we grow. The second major point of me having a clan is because I want to make friends. You can’t make friends if you’re not playing together and talking together. As far as mics, outside of high-end content (especially when the content is being taught), I don’t care if you want to stay off mic. Sometimes you just want to mindless chill in a fireteam with the clan and using Discord to text is sufficient to keep your progress going. That’s fine. I’m not going to be the time that is expecting everyone to be on mic every time they’re playing together. [/spoiler] [b]-Comradery and Cohesion-[/b] [spoiler]With the second major point of me doing this being making friends, I want to set the tone up front. Not everybody that gathers is going to absolutely vibe and/or love every person in that group. That is fine. If there are issues that need to be addressed, I want you to feel free to reach out to me. I will do my best to mediate and find a resolution that everyone can agree to. HOWEVER, if part of your personality is hating ANY group of people for merely existing as that type of person, I don’t you. It’s 2025. The world is crazy enough. We log in to the video game to escape reality. We’re all guardians.
