My thoughts on the new story

I’ll keep it short. I like Lodi, and I like Orin. I liked the drifter being involved and Ikora was Ikora. Let me just say I LIKE where the story is headed! I really do. But when I finished the story, all I could think was…. Wait what? That’s it? Ten years of vagueness, plotting, scamming, controlling, and literally all the Nine had to do from the beginning was say “hey there’s gonna be a black hole in the future, and we’re kind gonna need the haul and the guardian to stop it.” I just think that the payoff was odd, weak, and it didn’t fit the 10 year build up whatsoever. Just my thoughts.

  • With who-knows-how-many Dark Timelines that existed prior to this one, and the need to survive the Witness and the Final Shape, the Nine were probably in no hurry to speak with us until they were certain things would turn out the way they wanted them to. It wasn't just ten years; it was over a millennium at least. Trying to inform us ahead of time might have disrupted things enough so we wouldn't end up where we need to be. It wasn't just the black hole they were concerned about; the Haul was just to ensure we get III's message. In the Young Wolf's case specifically, they need us to become "The Weapon" to not only fight whatever it is that threatens extinction after III's death, but also to "bind the Nine". III even said it cannot be done, but foresaw that we, the Weapon, could do it. For the Nine, the past ten years were just a Prologue, intended to hone us into a powerful enough "Weapon" to fight the coming battles.
