Back when Destiny first launched, it launched as a game for everyone. Anyone could hop on and take part in missions all over Sol and experience everything that the game had to offer. Wether you were Solo or with a friend there was something for all levels of gamer. Some like myself even met new friends theough the Crucible or Strikes that then lead to Raid teams.
Today, Destiny is a far cry from this great history. Want to take part in a Raid? Too bad -blam!- wad you dont have *Insert specific weapon here* or “You dont know what to do get the -blam!- out”. Want higher tier loot? Sorry only players who can no life Mythic and Fabled tier missions can get this armor or weapon tier. Want to play PvP? You better bring a full squad and pray you dont encounter hackers or youre gona be -blam!-. Bungie has taken a game that originally everyone could play and enjoy and turned it into a Streamer exclusive that only those whose JOB it is to sit at a computer or console for 20+ hours and make content can play it.
I am a casual. I play games for fun and to unwind after a long week of 12-16 hour shifts. And I, am no longer welcome here. EoF will be my last expansion. Though I will be seeing what the seasons at least have to offer. I do indeed regret my purchase as I thought things might be a touch better. I was wrong. So. To my brothers and sisters in the field of the Casual Gamer, I will see you in another game in a more enjoyable environment than this Elitist hellscape of a game we once called Destiny.

I have not bought the DLC but have dabbled a bit and the last two days I';m trying to find something I actually like about all these changes. So barely anything. They have resurrected a few older activities and they are slightly funner. I hate I can't just pop in and run strikes or better yet NF's!!! I do like I can choose one or two strikes and finally run them solo. I like that I hear the story line is decent and that I can, haven;t yet, watch streamers run it so I get the story without wasting money on this garbage. I like that II used the money I would have for the DLC on something else which now saves me over $2,500 a year and with that savings I'm now going on another Alaska cruise, week in Denali and trip up[ to Gate of the Arctic NP next year. Notice how most of my likes have everything to do with not playing this crap anymore! But I'll be honest I may run a couple solo ops tonight - kinda like back in the D1 Phogoth and original Crota sword bearer days when I'd come home from work totally upset with stupid undergrad 3yo tantrums and needed to go punch that ogre in the face or slam Crota to death and live to tell the tale! So miss the D1 days! Heck I miss my original pre-clan clan (many of which were some of my previous undergrad students but with healthy adult-like attitudes!) Damn I miss those days so much!!!

Destiny was never a casual game , it’s a game that takes massive time investment
-
I am with you, when Bungie announced their vision going forward months back I came to the conclusion that it was not worth playing anymore. I was right, and as the saying goes: Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I got fooled twice, now I wait six months before I decide whether to invest in new content and wait for a sale were it’s over 50% off or free. I have discovered older games that have vastly improved and newer games as well, now I simply laugh and watch the content from streamers which reinforces that I made the right choice to abandon this game.

Get good scrub
-
Borderlands 4 could take a serious bite out of Bungies remaining playerbase in September, Actual power progression No timegates No grind limits More rewarding and varied loot No doubt the story will be just as buttcheeks as BL3 but Destiny players are used to that.

I'm the same, and just asked for a refund on EOF. This entire expansion seems aimed at one thing, player engagement hours key permance indicator (KPI). I've played for years and this expansion is a step too far in engagement hours KPI. It requires you to grind for 100s hours to be able to access tier 5 gear, then they reset you back down every 6 months, so you have to grind again to gain access? You have to use latest gear every season for extra damage and resistance? I have a family, I have a life outside D2. Don't farm me for time every 6 months for me to be able to START the gear grind I want with the tier 5s... then not let me use them next season... it's a joke. Greed gone too far. The same behaviour is present in exotic catalysts, that was too much for me already last season, light grind is an insane choice from every angle... except... if your main aim is to farm players for their time. If I asked 5 whys to get to root cause I'd need to ask Bungie, but hypothetically it could be the below... Players exploited purely for their time at expense of enjoyment... why.?.. bad game design forces players to spend 100s of hours with no reward... why?.... engagement metric / key performance indicator (KPI) needs to be green? (players are the livestock/resource)... why.?... Bungie pay incentives are based on this KPI/? why?... that's what shareholders care about and no customer/player focused KPIs? Root cause = missing customer focussed metrics / KPIs. e.g. feedback ratings, enjoyment feedback, surveys... KPI priority order should change to CUSTOMERS (PLAYERS) --> EMPLOYEES --> SHAREHOLDERS in terms of KPIs. Don't start and stop with shareholders. Root cause = wrong KPIs Action to fix = Add customer KPI as top priority and link to Bungie employee incentives? Just ideas and theory. Hopefully our time is more respected in the future as players. I want to grind for gear, I don't want to grind 100s hours to be ALLOWED to grind the gear I want (tier 5), with my progress reset every 6 months and forced to use loadouts I don't want to use.

It's been going on for a while now, but this is a game that doesn't respect your time, and is run by a developer that doesn't respect the majority of its player base and thinks they know best. Bungie's motto should be "Play the way we want you to play."
-
Laughs in "Bring Gally or Kick." You tell me what you would do to get players to run all of those reworked solo ops and fireteam ops if not for power and better tier armor? Only so many Mint Retrogrades you can come up with for weapons to chase from those activities.
-
Imagine being kept out from accessing what you paid for.
-
this game has always been a full time job, now its a vocation
-
I've been playing since the beta. The game has changed and not for the better.
-
Agreed. Bungie basically said if you don’t have 20+ hours a week to grind you are not welcome.
-
Why? 1. Highly choreographed mechanics in raids. Revive tokens in base difficulty. 2. Bullet sponges and glass guardians. No bonus for being over limit but severe for being under. 3. Slow cooldowns. D2 vanilla levels. 4. Massive time investment required for play at any level.
-
I thought they made game more open to new players….i played since week 1 d1 and had to youtube the final campaign mission, matter spark does my head in on final boss.. so put controller down abruptly across the room and turned x box off.
-
And they are genuinely puzzled why player numbers are tanking
-
It's a video game, a product, not your girlfriend.
-
I would say find friends to play with buddy.
-
I was never a casual but the grind got ridiculous,I have over 6000 hours and I legit just quit this is genuinely too much. Too much grind, too complicated, stats and stuff are too unclear and weapon tiers are just dumb.
-
Bungo is known for catering for streamers and elite group of players... This expansion is so mid I'm regretting buying it
-
Too much truth in this statement for Bungie to handle. Many of us with hundreds and even thousands of hours walked away with EoF.
-
The grind that has been introduced is crazy and is there solely to power-gate gear that is only slightly better than we had before. For example, Tier3 armor only begins dropping when you are beyond 200 power and its base stat count is 64-69 points and they are focused based on the armor type which is rng, many guardians already have armor up to 68 points and some have worked like crazy to get artifice armor with 68+3 points in the right stats. There is very little gain until you hit Tier4/Tier5 armor and that grind is ridiculous and most players won't ever see that gear.

Too bad -blam!- wad you dont have *Insert specific weapon here* or “You dont know what to do get the -blam!- out”.
You must have had a very different D1 raiding experience from literally everyone else, because that was exactly what used to happen back then.
-
I disagree with part of your point...I was not around for original console only Destiny(mainly a PC/MK gamer), but I am mainly a solo casual player and I really like what they did with the solo ops and even revamping the old strikes in the new UI. Sure the raid might be out of reach for a lot of us unless we really want it, but there is plenty of solo fun to be had. Games change, players change...you can't make everyone happy in this day and age of internets. Every game has these issues(esp. MMOs/RPGs with "endgame" content), it's not just Destiny. There is a LOT more to this game than just raids. You also can't change people, but you can influence them to be better. I say stick around and find the good people.
Want higher tier loot? Sorry only players who can no life Mythic and Fabled tier missions can get this armor or weapon tier.
As someone who has ran half of the Keplar missions on Mythic (-50) in a duo, you do not get good armor or weapons. Most I saw was a single tier 3, I think??? Pretty sure it was one of the ones you get from the podium that's a curated roll. So no natural drops of tier 3s. Pretty sure you have to be at 350 Power for tier 4s and 450 Power for tier 5s while on Keplar (as in you need the ugprades from the podium to get them). I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't this.
Today, Destiny is a far cry from this great history. Want to take part in a Raid? Too bad -blam!- wad you dont have *Insert specific weapon here*
That's literally a D1 thing. I can't think of a single required weapon for any activity in D2.
