Hello,
I am experiencing persistent crashes on my PS4 (2014 launch model) when launching Destiny 2 after the most recent update. The game crashes consistently with error code CE-34878-0, right after the “Checking for updates” screen, never reaching the login or character selection.
Here are the steps I have already taken to try to fix this issue:
Performed three full reinstalls of Destiny 2.
Downloaded Required Content packs 4–11 first, then 1–3 last, following Bungie’s compatibility advice.
Factory reset my PS4 to ensure a clean system environment.
Fully updated the PS4 system software.
Rebuilt the PS4 database multiple times.
Used DIM to remove any new armor items that have been reported to cause crashes.
Changed the PS4 resolution to 1080p due to crashes reported with 4K settings, although this issue is typically associated with PS4 Pro models.
Verified that there is no Destiny 2 saved data on my PS4, indicating the crash happens very early in the load process.
Despite all these efforts, the game crashes at the same point every time. I do not have an external USB 3.0 drive to try installing the game externally.
Could you please advise if there are any known issues with the latest update on older PS4 models, or any additional steps I can take to resolve this? Any help or a patch to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
Best regards,

Edited by Malatesta: 7/23/2025 3:26:57 PMGame will crash on PS4 because of "reasons" (I dont know the problem,I am not a developer). Here is the new "workaround" that may help you https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/264882842?sort=0&page=0 PS : How did you miss that ? It is on top of the Help forum. Either way, I hope it will help you somehow. PS II : Latest update did not solve any kind of crash problems on PS4. They don't know when it is going to get fixed.
