Why do we have to increase light level if we are always capped at -50 endgame? Isn't the light level supposed to be something like in Diablo 4, the bigger it is the stronger you are?
Now the objective feels to grind bad gear so we can grind slightly better gear so on and so forth until we can get to T4/5, then in the end we can feel weaker then when we started the grind?
Whats the point?

The point of light level now is to force you to grind as a lot of activities and better gear are now power gated.

Don't forget you gotta grind it to 400 and get set back to 200 next season just to do it again lol

Bungie was all too eager to oblige the "I need to see number go up to want to grind and gamble" crowd who asked for it back. And that's what it is. It's a number to grind and stint you. You're going to always experience a level handicap when you do the "challenging" versions of activities. And not rewarded in proportion for your extra time and effort. The Guardian hardly feels the magnitude of their growth when we return to places from earlier in the narrative. It's not like a real rpg or mmorpg. The elements they adopted ignored some of the best bits. The sense of power and progression shouldn't just come from a higher number. The higher number should be truly representative of our power. If we return to noob island, nothing there should be able to kill us and we should instantly kill it. If you start by killing chickens in an rpg and slay false gods by the end, anywhere from earlier in the game would provide lackluster loot and experience but you would insta kill it. It helps sell the power fantasy. You have intentionally power crept the beginning of the game. Earlier bosses that were challenging become the lieutenants to the fodder and new bosses take their place. I like banes, champions, subjugators... These are steps in the right direction. They understand half of it... We saved Sol, arguably the universe, but go back to power level 10 hitting for 14 damage as soon as we come across a new Eliksni faction and juiced up Vex. Back on the hamster wheel. And that's fine. But the system is convoluted. The stronger the challenges the greater the rewards should be. DRAMATICALLY. And when we do earlier content, we should feel how powerful we have become. The loot is often obsolete anyway. And it prevents people from speed running/ Sherpa new or returning players. The old dungeons are harder to do the first week of a new dlc year than they are the last week of the dlc proceeding it because of how the game is designed.

I used to poke fun at all the of the "farewells" I would see in the forums and thought they were cringe. No. no no no those people were smart. I haven't missed a single season every since Destiny even became a thought. I haven't missed content since starting in 2014... But this is actually making me want to stop playing Destiny forever

exactly, this is a huge issue

The mythic quest line is so boring because of this. It is the weirdest thing that Legend campaign is harder than fabled teir quest line because you are -20 and fabled you can be at power, and then mythic tier questline is just boring as all get out because you are -50 below and i swear its -70 below at final bosses....and you have to hide and do chip damage the entire mission. It takes forever.

This is what I have been saying thw whole time the system doesn't make sense. Why would u lock people out of certain tiers of weapons or out of certain difficulties at all. Just to then throw them back to the bottom at the end of the season. Destiny players don't like the power grind and we never have that's why they kept removing it and only had 10 pinnacle levels. Now we have to power grind to then start the real grind of tier 4/5 weapons. I'm getting to level 200 doing the raid a couple of times and I'll be back at ash and iron.

Just revert it back to how it was. This was such an arbitrary way of reintroducing sunsetting.

If you are going for gilding the Conqueror seal each season, wait until you find out that you can't even use the T4/5 gear you get this season in the next season to go for the title - all the activities you need to do for it are forcing you to use "New Gear" only! Now why do I want to grind my -blam!- off to get T4/5 even?

But I’ll say, I’m glad people are finally noticing the power level is just an arbitrary number that gates you out of content if it’s too low, regardless of skill.

It used to be like that but they made the game a grind. They’re capitalizing on the people’s addiction. -blam!-.
