Why is matterspark even a thing? Using it is VERY hard to control, it's hard to not get nauseous with all the extra twistiness and disorienting feelings it gives you, and it makes falling through small hole in the map floor all too easy when you're not trying to. Being UNDER THE MAP as a little ball and getting stuck in a respawn loop is NOT COOL, NOT FUN, AND NOT A PRODUCT I WILL EVER ENDORSE. Please consider making alternative paths for those unable to "put the ball in the hole". Your game shouldn't be so hard as to create its own need for therapy (I jest, but man is it awful right now yo).
EDIT AFTER COMPLETION: Matterspark needs more time added to the initial several instances where you're basically learning it, and it needs some finer tuning in the spots where your view is forced and all twisty and most of all it is best to design any new movement mechanics learned first in solo missions because.... Being dragged behind someone who DOES get it well and easily was the main issue for me... it made some of the necessary points inaccessible once I was too far behind and I had to wait for the team to "pull me" a few times and that's not the best way to learn anything in this game. Give the new mechanic more time to learn before ramping up the anxiety by the adding of a timer.

This sounds like something that POS Datto came up with. Bungie should not every listen to that clown again.
-
Yeah I’m not a fan of the electric marble gameplay. I won’t play the campaign. An occasional gambit, and crucible until I get stomped out of the fun zone.

Edited by Collins9875: 7/23/2025 3:40:04 PMI agree. I came back to Destiny after a break and found this trash. I gave it a chance, but after awhile I just logged out. Didn't even finish the opening story. I play Destiny for a shoot and move game, not whatever it's becoming. As bad and messed up as Halo is at least it's a shooting game still.

It is ridiculous that as a day one player with over 10K+ hours of play cannot finish the campaign solo due to this new movement tech being required in a boss battle. I have had no problem with the legendary campaign's combat difficulty but Matterspark is preventing me from finishing. I have attempted the fight close to a dozen time to only fail jumping as the spark.

No u r

I encourage all of you complainers to watch Esoterrick's latest video and educate yourselves on the benefits of Matterspark.
-
Ant Man was on tv at the weekend. A guy getting small and going through pipes then getting big again and punching people. I don’t want to be Ant Man, I want to be Thor.
-
I don’t understand how they thought matterspark was a good idea. It’s completely awful. I absolutely hate the camera view moving around, the pain of trying to control it, and how much the jumping sucks. Quite possibly the worst idea they’ve ever had. It’s totally okay for solving puzzles, exploring, or unlocking areas. But using it as a combat mechanic frustrates me so much.
-
I really was trying to give destiny a chance again but matterspark is so dumb. Whoever came up with that is mental
-
Funniest thing is they praised and were so proud of the ball concept and everyone hates it, me included. Now they’re like “Damn now what, that was our selling point for the DLC, now they’re gonna realize there’s nothing to do.”

Edited by STARKILLER2258: 7/23/2025 3:53:18 AMYeah I can't finish the last couple missions because my eyes just go crazy, blurry, and start to water. Not motion sickness, I don't get that. It just affects my eyes to where things get so screwed up my depth perception goes out the window. One of the last missions where you need to turn into that stupid ball and start launching yourself at servitors...yeah my eyes just don't last long enough not to screw up a jump and have to do it all over. Not fun.
-
In 1 or 2 mission for a mechanic and in free roam to find secrets should've just been enough, Not in every mission and boss fights. It was so annoying😒.

Retired wealthy. Screw this game... - old
Like I stated before, METROID PRIME!!! They copied another game big time and think we wouldn't notice... Plagiarism... -
I agree

Matter spark is a hideous thing, I’ve given up on campaign, bit sick of the game at the moment, it’s a chore playing it
-
It's not even a "new power" it's just a gimmick.

Edited by Hugs: 7/22/2025 9:51:20 PMI HATE IT! This is a shooting game! My friends and I thought fishing was ridiculous, but at least it wasn't a mandatory part of the campaign. But I'm OK having things in the game I don't like, as long as others like em. That said, this campaign isn't really my cup of tea. I sure do appreciate a lot of other things that came with the expansion, though.
-
This type of gimmick has absolutely no place at all in a space shooter looter. Games and technology are advancing rapidly, but matterspark is taking us back to 1958 when Tennis for Two was shown off, a full 14 years before Pong came out on Atari in 1972. I know matterspark is a little more advanced than the early versions of a moving ball across a screen, but it makes you wonder why a successful business like Bungie has to revert to the earliest and most basic type of gameplay to sell new content.

Edited by Dooodley: 7/22/2025 11:28:52 PMAfter "almost" suffering though the latest campaign now my stance on matterspark and the other abilties have slightly changed. I used to think they were the worst thing ever but now I'd rate the campaign gameplay as worse. It's just so utterly boring and there's no variation. The only highlights are the cutscenes - but that doesnt add much because I'll only see them for a minute once - seeing how I'm never going to return to that damn place after I'm done.
-
Zero thumbs. It's easy as hell to control and melt enemies with. Destiny players seem to want flat ground with stationary enemies to shoot at. I would love to see how Destiny players play other actual difficult games 🤭
-
Edited by Ardenstone: 7/21/2025 10:40:20 PMSeriously. I literally won't buy the expansion simply because matterspark is a thing. I just wanna know what it would take to get the developers to admit that it's the most awful thing they've ever designed for this game. Like, it's an fps shooter man, I don't want to roll around as a ball.

pure schitz
-
Matterspark is a big fart in our faces.
-
Edited by RainyAttendant0: 7/22/2025 7:53:16 AMI'm sure it's been pointed out already but I was doing a solo op when I heard ghost complain to Ana Bray that the matterspark makes him dizzy or something to that affect. Even the devs knew that stuff is annoying, lol
-
I've not bought this DLC. Played the first part that's free and hated so much that I'm not even going to bother buying it if it's used that heavily through the campaign. Sad as this is the first DLC / expansion that I've not bought in ten years.
-
they even got nauseating music and sound effects to go with that
