So we have tiers to chase now, yet we physically cant get T5 until the next update, making all the loot were getting now feel irrelevant on arrival. Especially if its T1 since even last year we could enhance a lot of our none crafted guns to have enhanced traits making T2 the bare minimum for even a side upgrade.
Armor stats now count each point, can go above 100, and armor has set bonuses, that's all good. But were limited on what 2 stats are paired together with archetypes. I cant get just weapons and health, and even then you need all T5 with 5 armor mods just have a constant 200 in 1 singular stat without font mods, and exotics cant even get above T2 right now.
Our grind now it just do the same activity over and over and over again, and its not even a new activity its all just old content. Also from the looks of it you want us to play the campaign 4 times over, no thanks the over abundance of puzzles actually ruined the campaign. Also thanks for sapping all the color out of the destination menu that we've had since destiny 1 launched, all so your hulu looking portal menu could be looked at. The new modifiers like "Low gravity" just make the activity your doing painfully slow just getting to the fight. Everything is just a bullet sponge at this point in the high difficulties, and the rewards for half these activities just give you 1 more power for the slot it dropped in. Also where did the hit marker go, why was it removed.
The casuals hate the update and even the top tier players don't like it. You gave us so many good changes, but they were all met with equal or bigger negatives that directly affect them. So I ask, who was this made for.

Edited by SnakeEyes734: 7/23/2025 6:40:56 AMFree to play crowd obviously! This IS a mobile game style grind folks!!! Hell Bungie even does daily log in bonus every now and then. Expect that to become more common It's ok though!! There is a plan Bungie will now add all our past paid season content and just recycle it to the free to play crowd slowly as new content in portal hoping to sell micro transactions to kids lol. You see it now?
-
I truly dont know this abomination is so far removed from what made destiny fun I dont see any going back at this point this expansion just feels like the game is in hospice care
-
The “content creators” they fly in. Travel, room, food, entertainment paid by Bungie. 100 or so people who get paid to play the game. It will cost them in the end. I think the customers have moved past anger and frustration. I think they’re in the dreaded, game killing, apathy stage.

Edited by ForeverLaxx: 7/22/2025 7:43:34 AMRemember: this update was built on the remnants of an "end of life" plan for Destiny 2. The systems being used and touted as "the future of the game" were never meant to be anything more than an endless loop of re-grinding for when the game went into maintenance mode and only the most dedicated/addicted players were expected to stick around. Everyone else was supposed to go to Marathon or whatever their Matter IP was at the time. Since that idea fell through, they've taken the framework for an EoL update and are trying to package it and sell it as a standard game expansion with "more years of support and updates" on the horizon. Imagine if you were having a Going Out of Business sale, but decided to scrap that idea at the last moment and use all the signage and advertisement as a jumping off point for your Renovation Grand Opening instead. Because that's what happened here. It's literally an update full of systems designed to tide over addicts while the lights in the building die out, sold to you as a product meant to last and appeal to everyone. They tore the "Thanks for Coming" sign down and put up a "Welcome to Your New Home" one in its place. It's a travesty.

It was made for Bungie so they can show off how many players are playing certain activities. Why else does Bungie immediately patch something when players find a way to circumvent the snail pace Bungie wants them to progress at?
-
Not for you or me. It was made by sadists and masochists for streamers with no life and gambling addictions.
-
Free to play guardians, there is your answer.....

The casuals hate the update and even the top tier players don't like it. You gave us so many good changes, but they were all met with equal or bigger negatives that directly affect them. So I ask, who was this made for. The devs who play on company time and machines and private servers, obviously. Not trying to be snarky, honestly. But if you watch any of their streams, you can see THEY enjoy every minute of their gameplay because they aren't "gated" like we are and they don't get performance issues and glitches for "tired" servers.
-
It was made for streamers.

removing strikes from pinnacle drops will be bungies greatest mistake to date. that is what kept players around . this new model is just bad ,bad content to level up and slow progression will burn out most players. and the game will fizzle out if bungie don't do something fast to fix this train wreck.
-
There’s a couple of people on the forums who love it, it would seem that, that would be it though!

Edited by Candy: 7/22/2025 3:26:13 PMWhether I like it or not I get tiers, I get the portal, I get the expansion content (or lack thereof). What I don’t get is the content Bungie has expects us to grind. Fireteam OPs and pinnacle ops require FTF. They did not all require FTF before. Pinnacle OPs had content that we literally ran to death the last 2 seasons. Why did you think players who have Heretic, Intrepid and Slayer Baron titles would engage with those activities again? It was such an easy win to bring back OLDER seasonal activities. Just put the old strikes and NF playlist in the portal. I seriously don’t get it. Adding old content to the portal will not entice anyone to run it under the guise of new content. Also why would you limit the raid loot to Tiers? Than is NO reason to run the raid unless you have ground to dropping T3 or higher. The loot is objectively trash and not worth running or farming until that point.

People who got tired of having no reason to play Getting everything in 5 minutes undermines the purpose of the game D2 became a watered down dry wasteland where there was no point to anything, just like D2 Vanilla, and just like D2 Vanilla, not even people who complained they couldn't have the same stuff in 5 minutes that someone else could in 5 hours didn't stick around and went back to Fortnight and COD 24k players on Steam, something drastic had to change "I felt the voices of a few thousand casuals cry out in entitlement"

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 7/22/2025 1:40:25 AM“The difference in tiers is negligible so it doesn’t matter anyway.” Then why do tiers exist at all? Then they become objectively worse in a few months anyway thanks to the new gear bonus. “The new gear bonus is negligible so it doesn’t matter anyway.” Then why does it exist? Turns out this “return to meaningful power and progression” update actually doesn’t provide meaningful power or progression at all when you ask the people defending these changes.
-
It all feels done now to be honest. Finished the campaign and there isn't anything left to play now except old content for low tier gear and a power grind that has no reason to exist as we are capped in all content making it utterly pointless. Why would I want to run an exotic mission I've already been forced to run countless times in past seasons to level gear for no reason?
-
It was made for me :)
-
you can get t5 now lol
-
Wait why can’t we get t5 gear til next update, is it actually time gated? I could’ve swore i someone using a tier 5 shotty in pvp

NOT ME! First time since D1 started I have not pre-purchased a dlc and have NO desire to waste a single penny on it! As for the Portal system - HATE IT! I liked the concept, at least in my head as I envisioned a new portal but what I envisioned was something faster and easier to access the content. Their concept is very much the opposite of what I had! Only ran the first, free, mission on Kepler hated the Matterspark so much that it by itself ignoring everything else shows me that I would be so freaken angry if I had bought the dlc that it would make the Krakatoa eruption sound like a whisper compared to my shouting!

https://youtu.be/NenhT88tI_4?si=B0xxN1c_qHwdbSY6. This sums it up perfectly about the "grind" in this game now. -
I think it was made for a brand new player base. They know that most of the old players (apart from streamers, fanboys and addicts) won't accept these changes, but they are planning long term for a different kind of Destiny aimed at a different audience ... our past service is not appreciated and no longer required. 🤷

I just want to correct one thing, you can get tier 5 armor now
