I just created my account last week and it assigned me a name. I followed the directions listed on help guide for "Changing a Bungie name"
Log in to Bungie.net with a platform account
Go to Profile Settings
Update the Bungie Name under "Identity Settings"
Press the "Save" button
When I try to change my name for the FIRST time, it says "your settings have changed" but it does not change the name. The account is new and I have not changed my account name in the past, obviously.

Edited by BNGHelp5: 7/21/2025 8:32:23 AMHey there, when you first log into the game, you get given a Bungie Name that matches the profile name of the account you first logged in with. If for some reason, that name hits the name filter, you receive a default 'Redacted' name instead. If you try to change your name, and the new name hits the name filter, then the change will just not go ahead, it won't save. Trying to use the name that previously got rejected, the one the system originally defaulted you for, will also get rejected. Unfortunately there's no feedback that explains this, when it happens. I can tell you that names with '69' in do get reset, so it's likely that. That's what I think is happening here - original name rejected, and it's rejecting it when you try to manually change to it. If you try some other things, it should accept one of them. Whatever you try, make sure it's something you don't mind going with.
