I've been playing destiny since d1 beta, beaten every piece of content the game has to offer probs sank thousands of hours into it.
with the surge of people (inc myself) moving to linux from windows for various reasons.
Would it not be a bad idea for bungie to add support to linux?
easy anti cheat supports proton (that lets you use games or apps made for windows on linux) like how cool would it be to play destiny 2 on a steam deck?
i looked at a few posts already and there are alot of people like myself can no longer play there favourite game or try it for the first time or get back into it. i feel like bungie are shooting themselves in the foot by not adding support in the long-term as linux is getting more and more popular every year so that is just more people who can't play destiny any more.

As others have pointed out, the game barely functions on the platforms it's already on, that includes consoles. It's not a matter of convincing them to do it, they just aren't capable of doing so.

Bro the game barely functioning on windows

The game can barely handle Windows without almost imploding within itself.

This game’s a bug filled mess as it is. I don’t think developing/supporting it on linux would be a good use of the limited resources that Bungie provides. -
whos paying for the port, the new in house anticheat to replace the one they are using along side of Battleye, and support for the new platform? And that is treating linux as 1 platform instead of the 1000's of distros in a trenchcoat pretending to by "Linux". The potential new sales would not cover any of the costs let alone all of the costs and make profit. All of that for 2.6 percent of Steam users that play on Linux.

Do other games do similar support for Linux ? If that is slowly becoming the standard we can hope to have it in the future.

Edited by CORPERATE COMMANDER: 7/14/2025 2:18:56 PMYou can play d2 on steam deck make a windows partition on the nvme or external nvme drive so you can dual boot from either steam os or windows on the same device thats all I've done. My main pc has .Windows 10 .Windows 11 .Steam os All on the same pc 😆 🤣 You just choose which operating system on initial pc boot up that you want, done through a menu of operating systems just after mobo logo Bungies short sight made them lose out on not supporting the steam deck steam os ,it would of increased the playercount quite a bit , you can play warframe on Linux or steam os though

Buddy this is you shooting yourself in the foot. You would be the reason you can no longer play your favorite game, not them lol. Bungo didn't change anything. You did, and now you want them to spend time and money adjusting to your change. Best of luck. I hope they do it for ya, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
