Dear Bungie Dev Team,
First off, thank you for the years of effort you’ve put into Destiny 2. The visual identity of our Guardians is one of the most powerful parts of the experience — the way we look reflects how we play, what we’ve accomplished, and how we feel when we log in.
That’s why I’m writing with a plea that I know many in the community have voiced already, but we haven’t seen any movement on: Please allow us to apply memento shaders, like Twilight Keepsake, to our armor.
Right now, some of the most striking and beautiful shaders in the game are locked behind weapon-only mementos. They’re sitting in a silo, visually stunning but restricted to a small part of the sandbox. Twilight Keepsake, Dreaming Spectrum, Night’s Chill — these are fan-favorite looks that we can’t match across our loadouts because they’re locked to weapons.
We’re not asking for armor mementos to be handed out easily or casually. We’re just asking for:
The ability to apply existing memento shaders to armor, or...
The option to slot a memento into armor pieces, even if it's a limited, hard-earned mechanic.
We grind the content. We craft the weapons. We chase the cosmetics. So why not let us fully customize the look of our Guardians using the incredible assets you've already created?
It would add immense value to activities like Trials, Nightfalls, Festival events, and Gambit — making mementos more relevant and giving us a real incentive to engage with these systems again.
Bungie, this is a win-win:
You're reusing assets that already exist.
Players feel more rewarded for their time and grind.
Destiny continues to evolve as a place where fashion is endgame — and now it's complete.
Please consider making this change, even if it’s one shader at a time. You’ve given us the tools to craft our weapons — now let us craft our look.
Thank you for reading,
— A Guardian who just wants to match his gun to his drip
